Match Type – Titan Defense
Ghost(Halo Legends)in Mark I Prototype & Alex Corde (Section 8) vs a Ultramarine (W40k) & Pre Vizsla (Starwars Clone Wars) in a match to destroy the other teams titan. These are the battlefield 2142 types, complete with shields and vehicles, 10 km apart from each other in a flat desert level with large rocks and ruined buildings as cover. The objective is to get inside and destroy the reactor of the other teams titan first team to do it wins, infinite respawns for both teams(they respawn inside their titan). Theres also Section 8 hover bikes and heavy tanks that spawn in the middle of the map, but are defended by MGS Gekkos.
Heres what the Titans look like.
Ghost, who is not a vehicle, comes from the Halo Series. His debut has him teamed up with Alex Corde of the Section 8 series. Their opponents is an Ultramarine from the Warhammer series and Pre Vizsla from the Star Wars Series, both making their debut in this match. This is a hodgepodge of four different series with the addition of other series thrown in.
Can Ghost and Alex defeat a Ultramarine and the leader of the Death Watch? Or will the Ultramarine with Vizsla’s help defeat the Spartan and the leader of the 8th Armored Infantry Division’s 1st Recon Platoon?

Looks interesting.
It’s nice to see ghost getting representation. In my experience halo fanboys use him to try and show how awesome master chief is for whatever reason. I know Lancer will probably like this match, he’s lobbied to get a section 8..whatever they are.. against a space marine before. Don’t know who this Pre guy is cause Clone Wars.. let’s face it.. it kinda sucks. I don’t watch it very often because you either get a well written episode or a bunch of jaw dropping at “This made it on the air HOW?” Although after the ewoks cartoons I suppose Lucas thinks the small screen is ready for any low.
I’ll throw my lot in with team 2
All I know of the deathwatch guy is he had a black blade lightsaber and managed to hold his own against obi wan. Other than that he’s a basic Mandalorian as far as I know. Have to see where this match goes.
I’m assuming the Ultramarine is just a tactical marine… (Although “Ultramarine” is pretty vague, that could mean anything from the lowly scout marine to a tactical marine to a chaplain to chief librarian Tigurius all the way up to Marneus Calgar himself….)
-
Although I think it would have been nicer for it to be an Assault Marine or Devastator since the titans can fly.
-
Anyhow, an Ultramarine Tactical Marine, is it even possible to get a more boring marine?
-
Power Armour
Bolter
Bolt Pistol
Combat Knife (Well, if you follow in-game wargear he wdoesn’t have this actually, but I’ll ignore that.)
Frag & Krak grenades
…
Oh and don’t forget his mandatory copy of the Codex Astartes…
-
Guess I’ll go searching around old debates for quotes… (Curse you web-blocker!)
I am curious as to why every faction except the Ultramarines got a named character… It wouldn’t be hard, You could’ve just said Proteus. Named Ultramarine that hasn’t done anything impressive beyond a normal Ultramarine.
@Zbritishthermalunit
-
Would it be Proteus at the start of the film, or Sergeant Proteus with the Thunder Hammer?
“Would it be Proteus at the start of the film, or Sergeant Proteus with the Thunder Hammer?”
-
Well, current incarnation would have him as Sgt. Proteus. But still, there are other named Ultramarines. Though, he didn’t specify which type of Ultramarine even.
Maybe Leandros from the Ultramarines game, he’s got that rookie shine to him. Buuut, since a bog standard marine doesn’t have much in the way of anti-vehicle at range (as opposed to Ghost who has that cannon thing), he should be given a Lascannon or Krak Missile Launcher.
I’ma go with team 1, The M1 prototype can unleash quite a hell and Alex is also equipped with some impressive weapons and armor team 1 easily has mobility over team 2.
-
now how would the Ultramarine stand to team 1′s weapons? I know that WH40K is OP beyond all reason but even they can be beaten.
-
And here we have it again, if section 8 vehicles are allover the map only alex knows how to drive them, unless that was the point in which case, that kinda seems fair pitting team one up against WH40K and starwars….
This should be pretty good.
When will the other audience members arrive, I wonder?
Well these are some nice ones Chuck put up in Durge & Grievous Vs. Kharn, thanks Chuck.

“Combat reflexes took over and Rafen drew his bolt pistol in a fraction of a second, his other hand snatching at the hilt of the battle knife resting in a sheath along the line of his spine. He fired a single shot at the High Chaplain, aiming low, aiming to wound, to slow him down. But he might well have called out his intentions in a shout. Astorath swept his blade aside and intercepted the bolt mid-flight with a crack of sound, the round blasting harmlessly into the dirt. Rafen dodged to one side as the weapon’s fast, fluid arc bisected the space where he had been standing, and he rolled, tumbling over red dirt and half-buried rocks.”
Pgs.231-232 H&B 16 – Redeemed
-
“Daviks opened fire. Sarpedon’s reactions were so fast that the bolter shots burst against the blade of the Axe of Mercaeno as the mutant flicked it up to defend himself.”
Pg.38 Hammer and Bolter 9 – Phalanx
-
“Greyloc leapt into contact, evading another plasma bolt in mid-air and sweeping his claws into the Cataphract’s bronze shoulder-guards.”
Pg.313 Battle of the Fang
(Can’t remember where but I recall hearing plasma bolts are faster than bolt rounds, just a thought though, its not that important.)
-
Much better than reflex quotes we’ve been using in the past…
Well, guess I should help argue for pre Viszla even though I hate him and that entire story with a passion. He can keep pace with Obi-Wan… Yup, that’s good enough for me.
“storath swept his blade aside and intercepted the bolt mid-flight with a crack of sound, the round blasting harmlessly into the dirt. ”
-
Big pet peeve of mine. How the hell hard is it to put a prox sensor in your rockets? I know bolter rounds are small so that might be a bit of an issue (although really if they have homing rounds it shouldn’t be). But I see this A LOT with explosive/rocket stuff. Like if they don’t hit head on they won’t explode. If you’re target is large enough to be a viable target against your rocket propelled explosive, then chances are a god damn proximity sensor would be a good idea. We use them in real life on our missiles, why can’t these super advanced races in all of these sci-fis do it? I see this trick used A LOT and it always gets on my nerves.
“How the hell hard is it to put a prox sensor in your rockets?”
-
Bolt rounds are designed only to explode once they have penetrated a target, sensing the rapid change in mass in its surrounding (or something like that.)
-
Well, and obviously if the round gets crushed or something the explosive charge might go off on its own…
Aren’t Alex’s weapons like railguns that shoots 15mm or something? I know a 40k guy could probably take that but I don’t recall much Pre Vizsla armor showing resistance against ballistics.
Apparently it’s armor piercing as well
“This devastaing weapon is fitted with a MK2 Electro-magnetic Jacketing system, and fires a 15mm case-less armor-piercing round.”

I guess it depends on whether Pre’s armor is genuine Beskar, or an inferior alloy. I’m inclined to think not, but who knows?
Ghost is the direct product of Halo: Legends non-cannon wank-weast
@Broad
-
Eh, I don’t see him doing so well against a Lascannon shot to the head, or a Melta blast to the head. Or a Krak Missile. Or a Heavy Bolter. Or an Autocannon. Or a Plasma gun.
“Eh, I don’t see him doing so well against a Lascannon shot to the head, or a Melta blast to the head. Or a Krak Missile. Or a Heavy Bolter. Or an Autocannon. Or a Plasma gun.”
-
Doesn’t the suit he use have a large dome shield around it.
“Ghost is the direct product of Halo: Legends non-cannon wank-weast.”
-
Except the episode Ghost is from is canon (two n’s not three; three n’s means it is an artillery piece). This is one of the reasons why I hate 343 so much.
-
Fun fact: Ghost’s suit is cheeper and easier to produce than a single suit of Mjolnir armor, and it can be operated by a mook instead of a super soldier.
The prototype, as far as I’m aware, has full flight jet boosters, a large chaingun, a shoulder mounted cannon (105mm?), some sort of explosive charge, guided HE rocket tubes, a bubble shield that can put up with fuel rods, and a huge-ass “termination” nuke.
-
Corde has his 15mmx45 “hyper-sonic” railgun assault rifle, I’m assuming the pistol (also hypersonic) forgot the caliber though. I’m also assuming his equipment consists of the serated nano- knife(by-passes shielding) and grenade (Only explode when an enemy comes within a certain distance). He’s got his armor+jet pack.
-
I think Corde should have no problem with the Ultramarine, and the prototype+Corde should take out that other dude (who I don’t know anything about).
Team 2 I’d say, they have Warhammer…..
Vizsla had true mandalorian armor meaning mandalorian iron as well as a jetpack and 2 Westar-35 blaster pistols and the Darksaber
what weapons does the SM have?
-
that being said yeah alex corde has some crazy firepower 15mm railguns that fire hyper sonic I’m pretty sure. his shielding is also pretty crazy
“Team 2 I’d say, they have Warhammer…..”
-
Section 8 soldiers are actually kinda superior to space marines. I mean they can survive terminal velocity impacts without issue, have jetpacks, can run at what? 75mph?, and carry automatic hypersonic large caliber guns.
@Lancer
“what weapons does the SM have?”
-
Read my first post in this thread.
——————————————-
On a side note, going off of comment 23 why is the marine the only one not allowed flight capabilities…?
——————————————-
@the_man_with The_Answers
“Section 8 soldiers are actually kinda superior to space marines. I mean they can survive terminal velocity impacts without issue, have jetpacks, can run at what? 75mph?,”
-
As far as run speed is concerned, I don’t actually know how fast this is, but:
-
“’Disperse!’ bellowed Astelan, sprinting to his right. His power armour took him across the ground in huge leaps, covering half a dozen metres with every pace.” Tales of Heresy, p.304
-
And having a jet pack only gives him an advantage over marines without jump packs, so until we get an actual clarification on what kind of marine is being used here the marine has a pretty big disadvantage when it gets to boarding the enemy titan, the other 3 can just fly there the moment they respawn.
I dunno how Corde Railgun stacks against Tau Railguns. Ceramite should provide some pretty good protection against it unless it is completely Hax.
-
Depending on what weapons the Ultra Gets, Ghost’s shield will only be able to keep out so much of the firepower, and I doubt any of its weapons will be massively damaging.
-
If Vizla does in fact have true Mandalorian Armor, he’s clear against pretty much any melee attack, and most bullets. His lightsaber would also do a lot of damage to both the enemies and the Titan.
OriginalA,
“Except the episode Ghost is from is canon (two n’s not three; three n’s means it is an artillery piece). This is one of the reasons why I hate 343 so much.”
-
Do remember that it requires tons of energy to operate and that it had complex controls. It left the user exposed – which is a drawback for team 1 btw- and was thus canceled.
Alright after some digging I found this, www.factpile.com/6729-lara-croft-vs-unarmed-space-marine/ comment #71, Mata used this quote to get the speed of a marine.
-
(I’ll quote the section for simplicity’s sake as well.)
-
“The lowest weight I have seen for a marine is around 660 pounds. Try to picture those 660 pounds moving at least 6 meters per sprinting step. A peak human today moves around 15 meters per second (25ish strides in 50m, or 2m per stride). That means that by those quotes, the light 660lb marine will be running three times faster than the fastest human today. That is 660ls of nasty coming at you at around 45m per second (105mph).”
For fairness’ sake, wouldn’t the Marine be a Devastator? Even if he can’t fly, he’ll at least have some anti-armor capability. A lascannon or Plasma gun wouldn’t be entirely out of the question don’t you think?
They are probably less strides and more like the long leaping motions of a gazelle. I’ve seen force capable characters do this in some video game, and I always wondered why they didn’t just bunny/kangaroo hop outside of it looking ridiculous. If the space marine gives a damn about efficiency he could probably achieve better results at the cost of looking like an idiot but it’d work. I don’t think there’s any way to actually get a speed out of the quote, though. It’s just that your speed is determined more by the power you hit the ground with, as opposed to the length of your stride or how quickly you move your legs. The length of the stride is likely to imply that he’s hitting the ground very hard with his feet. Hard enough to launch his body that far with each of these leap-steps. There is almost definitely a formula for figuring out potential speed from this information, but I don’t know it. Anyone willing to research or who has connections could probably figure it out, though. Always remember, Assassin, that things do not scale percentage wise with energy input and results usually. A stride three times greater than normal does not imply three times the speed. In the same way that being three times as tall does not mean that you can see three times as far, or that hitting three times harder means you’ll deliver three times as much damage.
Since everyone else has a jet-pack, yeah lets make it an Assault Marine.
-
*reason he isn’t named is because theres too many to pick from, so a standard assault marine will do*
-
Also, everyone’s got their standard gear, and don’t forget they don’t just have to kill the other team, but also get inside the Titans and blow them up.
I believe you, trust me I’m no math/science guy. Simply showing what I’ve found, not claiming its concrete.
-
Its not exactly a topic I’m qualified to discuss really.
——————————–
On a note unrelated to the match I stumbled across this:
webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:9rfLiL0BEJQJ:wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Boltgun+metal+storm+bolt+round&cd=4&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us
-
Near the bottom of the page under Ammunition Types, the Metal Storm bolt round replaces the standard round’s mass-reactive parts with a proximity detonator. (However I don’t have either the Deathwatch Core Rulebook or W40k 3rd Edition Rulebook on my laptop, so I can’t verify it. (I recall posting the various bolt rounds somewhere but can’t remember where…. Maybe my mind is just playing tricks on me.))

@SgCombine
-
Thank you.
-
One last request, can it either be an Assault Squad Sergeant or a Vanguard Veteran, so that we can at least give him a power weapon to make up for the Bolter he just lost?
Please refer to L-W’s post (#1, #3, #10): www.factpile.com/851-master-chief-vs-space-marine-warhammer-40k/
“Do remember that it requires tons of energy to operate and that it had complex controls. It left the user exposed – which is a drawback for team 1 btw- and was thus canceled.”
-
As opposed to the nuclear fusion pack in the Mjolnir armor? Complex controls I’ll grant you, but the prototype armor had a shielding system that surpassed Mjolnir’s. They can’t hide like the Spartans, but they can survive more as well. Also it wasn’t canceled. The prototype was destroyed (which was Ghost’s mission) and all the back up plans were destroyed shortly after (lost in a space battle that happened hours later).
If the marine gets 6 meters out of one step, then with an average of 4 steps per second, the marine would be traveling nearly 54 mph.
If I remember the Titan map correctly, you will need to take control of some missile thing that will start nuking the ship until its shields go down. That is when you can enter the ship and destroy all the shield controllers (I think its 4) to reach the core of the ship and blow it.
That means the ship can be destroyed relatively easy once the Titan’s shields are down since both team’s weaponry can take out control panels on the ship in one hit and probably its core as well. Most of the fighting will probably be on the ground trying to override the missile silos to attack the Titan.
Although I only know info about Prototype so I’l just say what I think would happen for now. Ghost has relatively good defense as long as his Bubble shields last (they activate when he’s fire upon and probably last a max of 30 seconds..good thing there’s respawn). However, I don’t know what the firepower will do to an Ultramarine. Pre-Vizsla would probably get slaughtered by his air to air missiles and possibly the Gatling gun if its able to hit.
A good tactic for Team 2 could be to let Vizsla operate the Titan and get the Ultramarine’s back (Titan has ground and air defense turrets) while it takes over each silo.
Team 1…I wouldn’t know :/
I;ve played both the Section 8 games and found them really enjoyable, but from playing I dont think the basic rifle is hypersonic, it felt to me more like a rifle with medium ROF, good range, accurate,, and a MASSIVE capacity. In my playtime the Section 8 jetpack was not the greatest jetpack for a game ever, though trust me, it helped alot. No idea how tough the actual S8 guys are, its hard to tell, are they taking firepower on 40k terms like a bolter? Or is it more realistic ammounts?
So, an Assault Marine then? What is the inside of a titan like? What would it take to maneuver within it and hit a critical system? Krak Grenades should be enough to kill a necessary part, as would Pre’s Lightsaber. Given those two’s relative speed and “movability” suited for inside fighting, they might be able to rush the enemy one and take it out from the inside.
If what I read from the first page of MC vs Space Marine is mostly true, then Team 2 rape stomps Team 1…
If it were realistic, then Team 1 could hide in their Titan while destroying all the missile silos while waiting for their doom as Team 2 proceeds to wipe out the Titan’s shields manually….
Its angry, and probably got a good bit of hyperbole sprinkled around, but I believe its legit info. However, this railgun of Corde’s might put a severe hamper on Team Two’s progress.
Now that I think about it…I might be jerking off to the Space Marine a bit too much after reading about it.
If Alex Code could hold his own against Pre-Vizsla then Team 1 has a pretty fair chance of winning. The Prototype armor should have enough firepower to go toe to toe with the Space Marine and its Bubble shields should be strong enough stand up to the Space Marine’s attacks.
Prototype load out:

halo.wikia.com/wiki/LAU-1810/SGM-151
halo.wikia.com/wiki/M149_Magellan_RCL
Basically consisting of air to airs, missile launchers, armor piercing C4′s/Nades, and a 20mm HE round shooting Gatling gun. Not to mention a nuclear fission self destruct device in the suit activated by voice command…
The battle could all depend on the respawn time.
I’ve seen star wars the clone wars Vizsla is dead weight sure he fought Obi Wan yet again a few episodes after that he had trouble fighting Ashoka (A Jedi Padawan)
Info on Alex Corde anyone?
Ah, here we are:
-
“Metal storm rounds are tipped with proximity triggers, causing them to detonate sooner than stander bolt shells and release their payload of explosive frag before fully penetrating the target. When employed in a bolter with a high rate of fire, they can decimate groups of lightly armoured enemies.” Deathwatch Core Rulebook pg. 159
-
Now that can stop bothering me…
“Near the bottom of the page under Ammunition Types, the Metal Storm bolt round replaces the standard round’s mass-reactive parts with a proximity detonator.”
-
Well, that’s one more writer who actually pays attention to technology, but all together they’re but a drop in the bucket compared to most.
-
“If the marine gets 6 meters out of one step, then with an average of 4 steps per second, the marine would be traveling nearly 54 mph.”
-
Biggest problem here is actually gravity. There’s literally no way he could get in 4 steps per second because of gravity not pushing him back down fast enough to get the next step in. We don’t launch ourselves in to the air when we run, although I’m pretty sure we also get more than 4 steps in per second while running. I’d estimate 2-3 steps per second tops, if he’s getting enough air to make it 6 meters per step. With a conservative estimate of 1 per second. This would put them around 20-60mph.
-
It’s literally either…
-
21.6 mph
-
43.2 mph
-
or 64.8mph
-
Living things don’t move in uniform enough of a manner to be consistent and at full functionality per movement every time said movement is done. Taking in to consideration human error and terrain I’d say 40mph is the best possible average you could arrive at.
I am SO SORRY. These should be KMPH, not MPH.
Conversion to miles, for you folks.
-
21.6kph = 13.42mph
43.2kph = 26.84mph
64.8kph = 40.26mph
-
So at best, likely around as fast as a horse. At even 4 strides per second it’s still only 86.4kph, which is 53.68mph. No where near the 105mph which it looks like Mata(?) was suggesting in that quote.
Anyone got anything calcs on Ghost’s speed(sprint/fly)?
I’m really tempted to try and figure it out as I consider exosuits on that scale to be mechs.. but.. I’ll be damned if I let myself really like something from Halo. So I’m NOT watching his fight scenes again.
I would assume it is pretty fast, at least capable of going 50 mph as cruising speed and possibly faster because I think it traveled a pretty long distance in a short amount of time to plant the C4 on the Wraith.
However, I would assume that the suit is made mostly to provide quick, heavy fire power with all its heavy duty weaponry..
If we’re assuming Assault marine, they tend to come with Melta Bombs and Krak grenades. but have little to no long-ranged anti-tank. That said, what sort of Crew is the Titan packing? The best best for both teams would be to get inside and take out the engine, but what sort of resistance would there be inside?
Whichever team camps the rockets spawn point wins.
Well if it’s supposed to be superior to the MJOLNIR system, then we’re looking at speeds of 32mph+. The original MJOLNIR (A heavy/bulky exoskeleton) could maintain a speed of 32mph. Mark VI puts SPARTANs sprinting at 45mph. Considering how mobile the prototype is supposed to be, speeds of 40mph-60mph is probably the range. Then there’s the whole full flight capability (It was competing with Banshees that move at a hundred-some kmph, and even a phantom which is capable of even greater speeds.)
@Manwith
Just because its supposed to be overall superior to the MJOLNIR, doesn’t mean it would be necessarily faster. An Abrams tank is arguable “Superior” to a Jeep, but guess which one would win in a race?
-
And I don’t recall banshees or Phantoms moving that fast in atmosphere. Where is that from?
-
Anyways, I can kinda (half-humorously) see the Marine chucking Vizla at the Titan like a sort of guided rocket, who could then cut an entryway into the titan with the saber, then the Marine follows behind and they use the Melta Charges to take out the Reactor.
@Behemoth
Its shielded (the titan) you know, it takes something like a dozen ballistic missiles to just take down the shield.
Then again, I could be wrong. I rewatched it and The Mark One has some pretty good speed from what I could observe. That might have something to do with the Anime roots (like that Elite that has invisible motorskates, WTF?). I wish Sauro would do those calculations.
“I wish Sauro would do those calculations.”
-
What’s needing calculating? I’ll think about doing it. If it doesn’t take too long and I fall asleep.
@Combine
Can solid things land on it? Is it totally repellent like the shields on a Martian Tripod, or is it like a Void shield where slow moving/low energy things can bypass it? And how powerful are those missiles? Could the hull stand up to a point blank hit from a meltabomb?
@Britishthermalunit
The speed of the Mark one Prototype while running.
Comically enough… Vizsla is the only combatent “small” enough to fit through some of the Titans doorways, standing between Them and the Reactors… ^_^
“The speed of the Mark one Prototype while running.”
-
Ewwww Halo Legends, nonetheless, I’ll see what I can do.
-
-
“Comically enough… Vizsla is the only combatent “small” enough to fit through some of the Titans doorways, standing between Them and the Reactors… ^_^”
-
Victory by not being a power armor wimp.
“Can solid things land on it? Is it totally repellent like the shields on a Martian Tripod, or is it like a Void shield where slow moving/low energy things can bypass it? ”
Totally repellent of everything, Matter and energy, of any mass or speed.
Organics die on contact. If we are going according to gameplay.
“And how powerful are those missiles? ”
Those missles are slightly more futuristic ICBMs (cant remember if they were EMP or straight up Bunkerbusters, dunno if it was ever specified)
“Could the hull stand up to a point blank hit from a meltabomb?”
Titan mode usually ends after about an hour of gameplay (assuming infiltrations from the teams fail miserably, every control point (usually 6ish per map) controlled by a team launches 1 ICBM at the enemy titan every 20seconds or so (i think, its been awhile since 2142) Thats alot of power to withstand.
So my answer would be Yes, Titan hull can withstand a melta, for a while. At worst, the melta would equate to a welding torch vs an M1 Tank.
@Behemoth
I remember their being at least 2 gunships that spawn inside the cargo bay of the Titan, the shields allow them to take off and to come in, but not bullets or grenades, so its “that” kind of shield. I can’t find anything about those missiles though, and I’m not really sure how powerful a meltabomb is, though I heard it breaks things down at a molecular level, is that right? But yeah, the shields IIRC let slow moving things through.
“Just because its supposed to be overall superior to the MJOLNIR, doesn’t mean it would be necessarily faster. An Abrams tank is arguable “Superior” to a Jeep, but guess which one would win in a race?”
-
But even the UNSC’s basic, crappy, heavy, and bulky MJOLNIR Mark I could run at 32mph. I imagine the suit that is multiple times more advanced is going to be significantly faster. Especially considering how mobile it appears to be in action (sprints around the battlefield, flies, jump jets).
-
Another thing, it has a 20mm gattling gun AND a 105mm cannon. I wouldn’t doubt its firepower. 20mm gatling gun alone can put out MJs upon MJs per second (Each round being somewhere along the lines of a few hundred kJ). Let’s not get started on how powerful a 105mm HE round is.
Ehh, just read Overkill’s post, guess I got that bit about the shields wrong. (its been forever since I played BF2142)
“Ehh, just read Overkill’s post, guess I got that bit about the shields wrong. (its been forever since I played BF2142)”
No you are right, the hanger bay is the exception, but its the fact that it has its own seperate, 1 way energy shield that cannot be destroyed in game, that allows you to hop in a fighter and take off. Trying to land back inside resulted in immediate death 90% of the time ( mostly do to typical EA bugs >.> )
Only the allied ships could enter/exit though. If you tried to enter, even on a friendly titan, through that shield on foot or by drop pod, you die.
“Comically enough… Vizsla is the only combatent “small” enough to fit through some of the Titans doorways, standing between Them and the Reactors… ^_^”
that’s almost poetic, beaten by virtue of having too much armor, wow. That makes Pre suddenly much more valuable to his team and the priority target for team one. If he gets onto team ones Titan that is.
“I’ve seen star wars the clone wars Vizsla is dead weight sure he fought Obi Wan yet again a few episodes after that he had trouble fighting Ashoka (A Jedi Padawan).”
-
Just pointing this out, but Ahsoka has fought Ventress (both alone and with another Jedi) and has lived to tell about it. Notably, Ahsoka warns a JEDI MASTER HIGH COUNCIL MEMBER that Ventress is too powerful unless Ahsoka helps out. What’s more is Ahsoka was right and the Master admits it fully shortly there after.
-
Ahsoka might be a padawan, but she is rather effective in combat.
-
Oh, and Ahsoka deliberately goaded General Grevious into attacking her so that he wouldn’t mercelessly slaughter her allies. At this time she had no jedi help and her extremely limited number of clones were going down fast and had another job to do. She lived.
-
Then there is the fight against Vizsla. Ahsoka happened to have a bunch of allies in that fight thanks to R2. Vizsla specifically told his allies that Ahsoka was his to fight and kill. Ahsoka has combat pre-cog (as all Jedi do). Vizsla still survived the fight. And this is after Ahsoka’s first move was to behead four of his men. She was fully willing to kill.
-
So let’s recap.
Ahsoka has survived a couple of fights against Ventress, whom (aside from Obi-Wan and Anikan and Count Duku) nobody seems to be able to take in a one vs one and live. Granted Ahsoka cannot take Ventress on alone, but neither can a Jedi Master! Obi-Wan and Anikan (both alone or working together) still manage to barely win or merely draw against Ventress.
-
Ahsoka managed to survive General Grevious’s “playing around”… something that nearly got other Jedi Masters killed. And she still managed to evade him after one of her allies turned out to be his spy.
-
She managed to score a few hits against Anikan when she was possessed by the Dark Side.
-
And she has the advantages of pre-cognizance.
-
How is losing to her a significant thing? He is a badass normal. He doesn’t have super powers or anything. Hell the fact that he survived when she was clearly willing to kill says something about him I’ll say.
Original A makes some good points, saying he got beat by a padawan doesn’t mean much when its Anikans Padawan and she has faced a sith assassin in Ventress and, if the commercials are to be believed will possibly soon face Darth Maul. Though the fact that he’s a Mandalorian does add to his badass normal status, they aren’t a warrior culture for nothing.
I dunno, I think that sounds like Game Mechanics. I mean, how is it possible to only let in certain objects but not others?
“I dunno, I think that sounds like Game Mechanics. I mean, how is it possible to only let in certain objects but not others?”
Pretty standard as far as sci-fi shields are concerned o_O
Star trek and Starwars do it all the time
yeah hanger shields generally have some sort of system where solid things can get in but not energy
I mean only friendlies being able to enter. How is a field supposed to know that kind of thing?
“I mean only friendlies being able to enter. How is a field supposed to know that kind of thing?”
Only friendly AIRCRAFT… may cross. Is it because the aircraft possess a similiar model of shielding that allows them through? Is it because the security system momentarily alters when an allied vessel attempts passage? maybe… dont know, doesnt really matter. Its only the Titans own aircraft that are allowed in or out, just like other sci-fi universes. Infantry are still fried on contact, allied or not.
TLDR: Fucking technology ;-p

Some form of an IFF would be the most logical answer.
I have knowledge on all but Vizsla, and it could go either way. Depending on what feats we use…
.
If we use the higher-end Space Marine feats, he should dominate, with casually walking at 45 kmph across brutal terrain, single bolt pistol rounds turning men into mist, strength to toss around tanks, bullet-timing, etc…
.
However, with low-end feats the marine will be easy prey to Corde’s railgun, and Ghost’s 105mm cannon will be especially deadly.
.
Oh, and it isn’t like Marines have had to fit in spaces too small for them before, they just rip the doors and walls out of their path…
.
And the assault marine will have the speed advantage, seeing as jump-packs are in multiple cases, essentially jet engines on their back, allowing hem full flight and ability to keep up with other air vehicles.
.
Really, it depends on what level of interpretations people want to use for everyone, low, medium, or high end, how this match goes.
Oh, and I might add, that is a really bad Ultramarine picture.

Blame google images :/
BAD GOOGLE IMAGES!!!
Skimmed through Halo legends again and saw that the Prototype was at least 100 feet away from the Wraith tank. He sprints towards it and gets there in 3.5-4 seconds.
Minimum calculation says 25 feet per second which is equal to ~17mph. This is running speed though, his flying speed is much faster I believe.
Ok, So i’m not sure if anyone has pointed this out (after brief skimming, doesn’t look like it). In a previous thread (40k v.s Halo) It was stated that a Space marine would destroy a Spartan, due to multiple factors, Training, weapons (Bolters are basically hand held rocket launchers.) superior armor and numbers, (nothing to do with this lol).
The Training- The start training from and early age and don’t stop for their entire career so their always getting better.
The weapons- As I mentioned, The bolter is essentialy a hand held rocket launcher.
-The Chainsword is a chain saw that can saw through steel or higher grade metals and its in Sword form.
-Melta guns/Bombs are overly powerful (the more powerful version of the fuel rod cannon/ in grenade form?)
-Krak grenades- Again stupidly powerful frag grenades.
The armour- The armour is centuries more technnilogicaly advanced than the halo series armour. Also it is thicker.
Finaly! A post I can actualy comment on!
I hope this helps!
If its already been posted then forgive me.
That would be helpful, if there was a spartan in this fight…
OriginalA,

Besides the fact that it was destroyed, they also canceled it due to the fact that it wasn’t very effective.
-
Apparently it uses resources and energy too quickly.

I have no doubt SM are better then SPARTANs however section 8 soldiers are basically space marines with tau weapons
…….. I totaly miss read the description! :s whoops! :C Sorry!
It happens to everyone lol, just read more carefully next time.
So…does anyone have any info on Section 8 soldiers or Pre-vizsla?

super-armored badasses that drop from orbit for a living and shrug off the landing. They run around the battlefield at 75mph (I think) while toting large caliber railguns (like 15mm and bigger). They also carry equipment like easy-to-use mortars that fire without having to be set-up and grenades that don’t go off until an enemy is close enough. They alos have J3TP@CK$!

This should shed some light on Ghost

Section 8 -
section8.wikia.com/wiki/Section_8_(Group)
section8.wikia.com/wiki/USIF_Powered_Assault_Armor
———-
The section 8 soldiers, in my opinion, seem like the earlier version Space marines, (Thunder warriors) Which were exterminated for unknown reasons. The fact that section 8 soldiers started to mutate and become more violent would suggest that they would not be able to think clearly once their blood is up. So wouldn’t the space marine be able to bide his time, avoiding shots and punches/ Close combat things? If so then the space marine would find an opening and gut the soldier like a pig. That is if he doesn’t get hit with any high calibre shots (very high calibre i would assume from previous posts) that could be compared to the assault cannon.

Hope this makes up for my mistake before.
From what I read of the Section 8 soldiers, they are extremely fast, probably faster than the ultramarines as they can reach speeds faster than 75 mph or 110 fps because of overdrive and their jet packs.
Section 8 armor and weaponry might be enough to match up with the Spacemarine. There are some features in the armor that are similar to the marines, like the ability to heal from extremely damaging, as well, as fatal wounds rather quickly with the use of nanites ( although the duration is unspecified).
Section 8 stuff:
Rechargeable Energy/Plasma Shielding- this is vulnerable to plasma weaponry, emp, and melee. It is turned on when entering atmospheres. It takes a large number of shots (from Section 8 weaponry) to take down, more than 8 shots.
[analysis- Space marines would probably dominate Corde in close combat but Space marine guns might not be able to quickly overpower the his shielding]
Tritium alloy armor plating- the physical protection on the USIF power armor, it’s made to protect against plasma rounds, railgun rounds, and he rounds. From the youtube videos, 1-4 shots will take out a shieldless enemy.
[analysis- once Corde runs out of shields, he'll probably get owned by the stronger weaponry, but his shields are quite strong.]
Standard Assault Rifle- uses either Rail rounds or Slug rounds.
Rail rounds are 15X45mm titanium armor piercing slugs. Mostly medium-long range.
Slug rounds are 18X51mm slugs. Mostly close-medium range.
[analysis- section 8 seems much weaker than space marine weaponry.]
Overall, Corde would need his vehicles to match up to the Power armor, but he should be able to own Pre-vizsla with his helmet’s lock on ability.
I just had a nasty little idea, after the Marine gets killed sometime, a member of team 1 grabs his copy of the Codex Astartes off his corpse and takes some time to study it (not in detail, but a brief skim over wouldn’t hurt.) Team 1 would basicly have the Marine’s entire playbook for the rest of the match.
@The_Assassin71
I doubt Ghost and Alex can read High Gothic, so you need not worry!
Let me ask..what can hurt an Ultramarine?
@Tarbel
In the movie they can be taken out by standard Bolters

Though, in fluff they casually tank those, although even in the books their not immune to chainswords, so a I’m guessing a mono-molecular knife could go through, or viber-blade, though it’ll have to be pretty big to do significant damage to the massively bulky Marine.
@SgCombine
I actually thought of that right after I posted it, but I wasn’t exactly sure if it actually is written in High Gothic, all things considered High Gothic really isn’t a popular or even important dialect in the Imperium, hell its not even a nobility “We’re better than you so we speak a higher dialect” type thing. All things considered I find it possible for it to be written in Low Gothic. (Also if Ghost has a good enough education (I wouldn’t know, I’m just assuming he might)), since Halo really isn’t set that far into the future its possible he could know bits and pieces of Latin, and therefore understand some High Gothic (which is for all intents and purposes Latin.)
-
As to Ultramarines the Movie… the only thing I’ve ever even considered using for feats in that movie is the speed of a Land Speeder and the relevance of that particular vehicle has yet to come up in a debate really…
-
“although even in the books their not immune to chainswords”
-
True enough, however they are still relatively not effective enough to be useful in a quick fight, they’re definately not one of the better options for facing power armoured opponents…
@Assassin, I highly doubt that they would be able to read through hand comprehend the multiple thousand page Astartes in any reasonable timeframe. In fact, in the Ultramarines series the Codex Astartes (Ultra Edition) was said to be so large that it wouldn’t all fit in the super giant book they were looking in.
But I have the feeling you already knew this.
So what has become of the current match, so far?
