Here we have a match between 2 powerful cyborgs. Ghor, debuting from Metroid Prime 3, is going up against General Grievous from the Star Wars franchise.
Battlefield is the Elysian landing platform, and Ghor gets his battle armor.
Who wins?

First.
Thanks admin.
Since movie Grevious sucks ass, EU can be used.
That’s all I will say about changing the conditions. Begin!
Awww yeah! This is a good fight I say. Too bad I’ll be busy all day…
My first impression tells me Grievous is going to win this one.
-
Seeing how we don’t use the movie, but the fit version of Grievous I am inclined to say that Grievous will win due to his speed.Ghor, while being a mobile cyborg himself, is still quite restricted in his bulky battle armor.Not saying he is a slow target, but Ghor doesn’t display speed feats compareble with Grievous .Grievous will be able to jump and dodge the attacks just like Samus did.
-
The danger for Grievous here is the fact he likes his combat up close and personal, which isn’t exactly a ideal situation against Ghor, who has manhandled Samus her starship like it was a oversized toy.If Ghor can land a single blow on Grievous the damage done will most likely wreck Grievous to the point he can’t fight well anymore.
-
However, everything considered, I see the battle being a fast one, with Grievous dodging the first volley of Ghor’s ranged weaponry, jumping on top of Ghor and putting a lightsaber trough Ghor’s head, which is exposed even in his battle armor.
Well… Ghor’s main weapon /is/ a plasma beam, and we all know how good lightsabres are at fucking up ranged weapons… In case you don’t know, they’re really good.
@Master Sarge
This match is a hell of a lot more deserving on getting posted than the one that was mentioned in the Civil War, agreed?
@Bard: Yes, but to deflect blaster bolts with any true efficiency, you need Jedi-level reflexes, i.e. seeing into the future. Now, Grievous has droid-like reflexes, but is that enough to make a lightsaber-based defensive strategy an effective one? I don’t see him charging straight in deflecting plasma beams like a Jedi. Rather, I think he’d take cover like a more conventional soldier. Remember that most of his first life consisted of being a soldier fighting a pretty conventional war with blasters, grenades and tanks.
Are you kidding me! Ghor is an atom-stomp! He can turn into a freakin gunship, his armor is equal if not superior to Samus’s! He has shields, missiles, plasma cannons and turbo lasers!! The only way Mister Grivs can beat Ghor is if he can transform into a ball and get into tight spaces that Ghor cant attack from, but then he will still return to the gunship form and We know Grievous has no powerful range attacks. Ghor for the curb-stomp.
Hows about you actually debate, rather than saying unrelated bullshit. Ya know? Try doing the thing that the site was made for every once in a blue fucking moon? Just a thought.
That wasn’t to theEngine or murder by the way.
-
He’s also shown the ability to best quite a few jedi… I doubt plasma bolts travel anywhere near as fast as blasters.
I usually just try to ignore Murder. Trolls die if they don’t get fed.
I dont know if you are talking to me or some loser, but I just ended this fight. Unless this is a joke match, Grievous cant even get close to Ghor unless he has some form of shield that can withstand a void driver.
@Murder
This is just Ghor and his bodysuit. He doesn’t have the ability to merge into his suit.
‘into his ship.
Attack claws to fight hand-to-hand, and perform vicious spin attacks.
Laser cannons fitted on his attack claws.
A frontal shield to deflect attacks, also used to charge opponents.
A hookshot to ensnare opponents.
A Plasma Cannon mounted on his chest.
A Multi-Missile system.
Boosters to make high leaps in the air and land down, creating a shockwave.
—
Those are Ghor’s weapons, which means He scorpions Grievous, pulls him in slashes him apart, boost jumps fifty meters, pile drives grievous, then finishes him off with plasma, missiles and laser cannons.
Well, if we handicap, Ghor I guess Grievous has a chance then.
“This is just Ghor and his bodysuit. He doesn’t have the ability to merge into his suit.”
===
Not according to the scenario, which states:
“Battlefield is the Elysian landing platform, and Ghor gets his battle armor. “
I misread that somehow…. D-D-D-DERP!
I disagree. If Grievous gets in close, and given his superior speed and agility, it is entirely likely, Ghor is dead. Grevious’s lightsaber dueling skills would tear him apart in a heartbeat.
Er, comment #19 is @Murder.
No Engine. Ghor reacts at hyper velocity speeds capable of dodging Samus’s plasma attacks. I’ve never seen Grievous move that fast or that he has the firepower to punch through a Metroid universe shield that withstands battleship firepower or that he can take a single direct hit from one of the multiple weapon systems that Ghor has.
Unless it’s just Ghor’s bodysuit, the Grievous will win.
Ghor is a powerful opponent no doubt but Grevious is trained in lightsaber combat by Count Dooku plus there’s the fact that he regularly goes toe to toe with multiple jedi in the EU. He even held his own against several council members in the final episodes of the first clone wars cartoon. I will say this though there are some projectiles even Lightsabers have difficulties with. Another thing is his defense generally involves spinning two lightsabers at high speeds in front of him. I’d like to see someone attack through spinning lightsabers. Plus Grevious was a warrior of other styles long before becoming a Cyborg, and depending on the source picked the upgrades so he could fight and win against Jedi. I think that…those trying to say Ghor wins are underestimating the skills Grevious must have to hold off some of the greatest Jedi of his time.
Ghor’s hulk suit is his ship….
+
Anyway, doesn’t everyone in Metroid have the plastic wrap shields, and he’s also powered by phazon.
+
When did Grevious deflect blaster shotz, clone wars cgi toon?
@Envoy
I don’t know if he has in the cgi toon, I know he did in the animated shorts that served as the between episode two and three before the cgi movie.
“No Engine. Ghor reacts at hyper velocity speeds capable of dodging Samus’s plasma attacks. ”
===
Samus didn’t get her Plasma Beam in MP3:C until she beat Ghor.
===
Grievous might actually edge out Ghor due to his agility. While he does have his gunship, he’s not very agile with it and loses track after ramming with linear attacks. It’s not like Samus was going with her usual supersonic running speed here either. Also, before anyone starts citing the absurd gravity numbers in Metroid, there are two things that may make them not apply in this scenario. First, Elysia was not given any figures to calculate its gravity number, and since it is a gas giant, may not have anything close to Zebes or Tallon IV in terms of gravity.

If Grievous is fast enough, I see him dodging Ghor ramming into the wall, then climbing up and skewering him with his lightsabers. It’s really quite similar to what orber said in his post. As for blaster shots, there’s a difference between deflecting intermittent beams, and deflecting a continuous and focused beam. Have lightsabers demonstrated the ability to deflect those?
“Since movie Grevious sucks ass,”
Wrong.
I don’t know about continuous beams I’ll check on it though
I’ll check on the continuous beams as well.
I can’t find any conclusive data on continuous beams but there are some blasters used by the ssi ruvi that the blasts could only be bent by the lightsaber as I recall
General Grievous in close range was capable of fighting and defeating five trained jedi at once with ease.
-
www.youtube.com/watch?v=k3OeWuzyQ1Q#t=3m15s
-
He is also capable of dodging blaster fire from an entire Squad of Arc troopers, backed up by an armoured vehicle, so Ghor’s plasma cannons may be of questionable usefulness.
-

I’d forgotten about the tank thing, honestly considering Grevious isn’t an idiot if he fights smart he can easily win this
I also seem to remember a quote stating that Grievous’ armour protects him from everything up to and including Starfighter blasters (which could range from triple digit megajoules to even gigajoules IIRC).
Honestly this is a pretty even match
Honestly this is a pretty even match if Ghor lands a strong hit he can win and if Grevious manages to avoid and get past Ghors defense Grevious can win
metroid.wikia.com/wiki/Ghor
wiki page on Ghor above. Focus on the logbook entries at the bottom, as those are actual in-game scans of Ghor.
While I don’t question the logbook section how useful will the rest of that page be if I may ask?
Let’s continue this fight, alright?
What defense does Grevious have against the Plasma Beam? The Plasma beam was capable of melting rock and metal. I know Grevious can dodge one or two plasma shots, but multiple plasma beams coming in a rapid firing rate? Also what can Grevious do to those homing missles coming from Ghor’s shoulder? If hypermode is allowed, Ghor’s missles and beams would become stronger (at the cost of losing an energy tank).
So, good match?
-
How dOes Greivous get around Ghors energy shield without a morph ball?
“How dOes Greivous get around Ghors energy shield without a morph ball?”
-
Durability of Ghors shield?
@stealth
It cantank the majority of Samus’ armaments, from what I remember.
“Durability of Ghors shield?”
/
Below (a little bit) Samus’s. Ghor’s shield can only be hit in two places alternatively (head and underneath suit). Along with that, he has an orange frontal shields that blocked Samus’s normal missles and power beam. When he loses enough health, he goes into hypermode, becoming more resilient to damage.(last for a short while)
The reason Ghor shield was effective against Samus is because Samus is primarily a ranged fighter.The shield doesn’t cover his entire head just the front and the right and left side to a degree.Should Grievous jump on Ghor’s back he’s clear to impale his head with a saber.
@Alpha
Tartakovsky Grievous is just about the most hax bullet dodger in his tier.
“The shield doesn’t cover his entire head just the front and the right and left side to a degree.Should Grievous jump on Ghor’s back he’s clear to impale his head with a saber.”
/
To be fair, Ghor without the suit was flung back by a power beam shot from Samus after Ghor destroyed the Aurora’s system with a plasma laser. I have no doubt a lightsaber could kill him. The space/battlesuit was the only thing that kept him alive against Samus.
” I know Grevious can dodge one or two plasma shots, but multiple plasma beams coming in a rapid firing rate? ”
-
Look at my second Youtube link.
“Below (a little bit) Samus’s”
-
If thats the case then i can’t really see Grievous bypassing it within short order
-
Although Grievous’ pre-ROTS armor could withstand starship blaster fire with little to no damage and was even heavily lightsaber resistant IIRC
-
“When he loses enough health, he goes into hypermode, becoming more resilient to damage.(last for a short while)”
-
Limits of invulnerability?
-
And how stronger is Ghor physically? because Grievous is strong enough to rend durasteel with his bare hands, crush durasteel with a stomp and throw an Electrostaff with enough force to crack transparisteel
This fight is so badass, that badass does not begint to cover the amount of win this fight is bleeding out!
“And how stronger is Ghor physically?”
/
Well with the suit, he threw Samus’s ship before the fight, but that’s his only strength feat I know of.
“Look at my second Youtube link”
/
“Tartakovsky Grievous is just about the most hax bullet dodger in his tier”
/
Alright, thanks, well it looks like Grevious seems to have more of an edge in this fight. He outclasses him in speed and reactions, the only thing I can think of that Ghor outclasses him is in health (energy tanks or something) and possibly strength.
Well i can’t think of a comparable feat of lifting capability for Grievous
-
I see this as something like Dante vs Alucard. Where one combatant is stronger overall, but the other is stronger in sudden, more violent bursts
Grievous (at least pre-RoTS) is really agile, and he can slam into the ground hard enough to send rubble and Jedi-masters flying. He is also capable of dodging force attacks.
So Grievous is faster but Ghor is stronger. so basically it comes down to will Grievous slice and dice Ghor first or will Ghor get a hold of Grievous and rip him apart.
Oh gee, Metroid vs Star Wars… JOY!
Another feat that I found was during the attack on Norion. Before Samus heads to Generator C, you will see Ghor bursting through a wall by a hit from a Berserker Knight, and The B.K. and Ghor exchange blows and then ends with Ghor piercing the B.K. armor.

Sorry, for some reason, I couldn’t hyper link it, it starts at 2:17 Sorry to bother by making you copy/pasting the address.
Never mind the hyper link works!
@ZomB
its actually much more even than usual in this case.
“its actually much more even than usual in this case.”
-
Agreed. As i said, its somewhat like Dante vs Alucard. One combatant is stronger overall, but the other can use their strength more effectively in combat in sudden, violent bursts
Well….. In that case I will tentatively support Grevious… He’ll just cut off Ghor’s head and go back to killing Jedi scum.
I’m calling bullshit on the cartoons that have been presented here. Cartoons Grievous should not influence any decision here. Examine evidence #1: Cartoon Grievous takes on 5 Jedi Knights and a platoon of ARC troopers with a gunship and still kicks ass, but in the actual movie he gets his limbs sliced off after a minute with Obi Wan. Evidence #2: even in the fight with Obi Wan, when Grievous is clearly losing and he knows this, he still refuses to do any of those theatrics we saw in the cartoon. Maybe he didnt because he couldnt?
—
So I move to strike cartoon Grievous from the record, only movie Grievous and Lucas approved novelties can be admitted into evidence of his skills.
—
Having said that, even with his Asthma he is still very fast and dangerous. If he were some how capable of getting to Ghor’s back he would probably win this. But since the arena has not be mentioned I’m left to assume it’s in the vacuum of space floating around a black hole. What sort of built in propulsion does Grievous have? Cause my Ghor turns into a starscream jet that kicks ass.
Last bit was a joke. Grievous will try to attack Ghor’s flank just out of instinct, I believe. But, we’ve never seen him capable of dodging dozens of missiles with blast radius full of shrapnel, plasma cannons that have a blast radius capable of melting metal, and a focused energy beam all at the same time. Should Ghor unload everything he has, it’s my belief that Ghor damages Grievous enough that his movements are hindered enough that he cannot perform at speeds required to circumnavigate Ghor’s defenses. Grievous is tough, but he isn’t metroid tough.
Murder, Mace Windu cripples Grievous at the end of the cartoon series, which is why we see him being so useless in the actual movies. He can’t hardly even breath anymore. The Cartoons represent him at his prime. It’s also been stated that Grievous’ flashy fighting style is ineffective against practical, simple fighting styles like Obi-Wan’s which are largely devout of all the flare Grievous is so fond of.
And EU arguments again for the umpteenth time? The EU is canon. Deal with it
Yes, WIndu crushed Grievous’ chest at the end of Clone Wars which likely explains his performance drop in the movie.
-
Though he was still lame as fuck in RoTS.
as has been said already the animated is canon based on the rules set forth by the OP so if you don’t like it don’t debate the match. I have to agree though RoTS Grievous was a sad pathetic fool compared to in the animated series where he was holding off the likes of Mace Windu before Windu crippled him, which is Ghor’s best bet damage the systems defending and keeping Grievous’s organs working right like Mace did with Force Crush or whatever it was he used.
THE CARTOONS ARE CANON… GET OVER IT YOU BUTTHURT FANBOI!
“where he was holding off the likes of Mace Windu before Windu crippled him”
-
Um, he didn’t really ‘hold off’ Windu, the fight lasted about two seconds lol.
“Murder, Mace Windu cripples Grievous at the end of the cartoon series, which is why we see him being so useless in the actual movies. He can’t hardly even breath anymore. The Cartoons represent him at his prime.”
.
I remember Lucas saying in an behind the scenes interview that Grievous always had that cough after being put in his mechanical suit. Lucas did this to show that the life support systems weren’t as advanced as the systems that Vader received later on.
Oh, its been a while since I’ve seen it.
Ghor could toss around Berserker Lords pretty easily, as well as Samus’ gunship. He’s pretty strong.
Berserker Knights actually…
Ok so we are using the strongest known version of Grievous and a weaker version of Ghor? Alright then, lets get you fanboys another Star Wars award ready so you can get back to jerking off over your Slave Leia poster.
“Although Grievous’ pre-ROTS armor could withstand starship blaster fire with little to no damage and was even heavily lightsaber resistant IIRC”
-
Not lightsaber resistant. He gets cut to pieces in Lair of Grievous long before ROTS happens.
-
“I remember Lucas saying in an behind the scenes interview that Grievous always had that cough after being put in his mechanical suit. Lucas did this to show that the life support systems weren’t as advanced as the systems that Vader received later on.”
^^
This! Grievous coughs in The Clone Wars movie and TV series. Not as much as he does in ROTS, but he still does cough long before the capture of Palpatine (which is when Windu crushes Grievous’s chest plate).
Strongest version of Grevious?
Yes, EU
Weakest version of Ghor?
No
Right now, it’s pretty even IMO.
This match did the impossible and seen the invisible, now let it FIGHT DA POWAH!!!!!
Meantime, who’s winning, so far?
You sure it was a Knight?
Are we even considering Ghors powered energy blades? They can cut through the phazite armor on that Berserker Knight like it was butter….
@Master Sarge
Which Knight?
Also we got a civil war to get back towards, while we are still discussing Grevious vs Ghor, agreed?
Didn’t both became Cyborgs?
Well it didn’t have those red orbs around its shoulder, so it was a Knight, not a Lord. Still, beating a Knight is impressive.
There’s an enemy called Berserker Knights in Metroid. Ghor Killed one pretty easily even though they were equal to/superior to Elite Pirates.
-
Yeah, Grievious got dumped out of a shuttle onto sharp rocks that wrecked his body, hence, Cybernetic Modification. Ghor lost his body bit by bit over years of Bounty Hunting.
-
Ghor beat it with a good one-two punch. The first destroyed it’s Phazite, the next impaled it’s skull.
Ghor was a survivor from some war 100 years ago. (Metroid Prime Trilogy log books) Ghor before death was 95% machine and 5% organic. (forgot what species). He survived for 100 years by turning himself into cyborg. His brain is what’s left of his organic body.
@Fellow Founders
Mind sharing more?
I think its funny how his voices changes when he’s in his big armor. “Now hurry, and get that generator online BEFORE WE’RE ALL VAPORIZED!.”
“Yeah, Grievious got dumped out of a shuttle onto sharp rocks that wrecked his body, hence, Cybernetic Modification”
-
Yeah thats why he was always coughing n’ all
-
Fun Fact: Grievous’ first lightsaber was Master Sifo Dias’ lightsaber
Fun Fact: Ghor’s design was based on Ig-88 and Grevious.
Another Fun Fact: Skytown, Elysia was based on Cloud City.
@S.R
Where did they say that Grevious was the one who killed Sifo Dyas, to be sure?
“Where did they say that Grevious was the one who killed Sifo Dyas, to be sure?”
-
I never said that he did. Count Dooku did. He just gave Sifo Dyas’ lightsaber to Grievous after he was transformed into a cyborg as a ‘gift’ where he massacred his guards with it after he was called a droid
-
It happened in some EU comic where one of the short stories was about Grievous’ transformation into the CIS general we all know and love
@Cross
He didn’t. Dyas died a long time before hand. Dooku kept his possessions and body in stasis on Serreno. He gave G his lightsaber, and when his body was being built, they infused him with Sifo-Dyas’ blood in an attempt to give Grievous Force Sensitivity.
“Fun Fact: Ghor’s design was based on Ig-88 and Grevious.
Another Fun Fact: Skytown, Elysia was based on Cloud City.”
-
Thats badass
So……. Too even to decide?
I guess so
Dangit, he’s right.
Well, Grevious kinda has the edge due to speed and reactions. Ghor has brute strength and fire power over Grevious and that’s it.
@Captain
Pretty much!
@Master Sarge
About enough Force Sensitivity for the Lightsaber to not backfire on him and to save the trouble of having to train Grevious the harder way with Lightsabers, right?(a feat only someone like Boba Fett succeeded, to my knowledge?)
@GB
Strength will only get you so far in fighting superior agility helps as well, and near as I can tell from whats been posted here and what I know Grievous is the quicker of the two.
But the Platform battlefield will limit Grievous’ mobility somewhat. And Ghor’s Boost Charge would probably be unexpected and catch G by surprise.
@Captain and Master Sarge + Admiral
Can we agree that its mostly great to see Grevious back on factpile after all these years?
In strength i see this as something like Dante vs Alucard. Where one combatant is stronger overall, but the other is stronger in sudden, more violent bursts
-
Ghor is stronger overall but Grievous is capable of using his strength to a greater degree in combat
-
Or has Ghor been shown using his strength in sudden violent bursts?
-
Correct me where im wrong
