What would happen in Empire City?
What would happen to infected NY?
Would their powers be diminished?
What other outcomes could there be?

Are these two switching universes while empowered or as average humans?
cole doesnt have many assets against the infected
mercer was overpowered and still prototype had its hard moments.
cole isnt as overpowered, his powers constantly need recharging unlike mercer.
although cole might be able to procure more allies in ny.
on the other hand, mercer would porbably be a god in coles world.
he has more powerful powers than cole (mostly)
his powers dont need recharging
he can run REALLY fucking fast
he can cross the city a lot faster
the enemies in infamous dont seem as much of a threat as the FUCKLOADS of zombies SHITLOADS of US army soldiers/tanks/helicopters and BLACKWATCH
also, mercer isnt a moral guy, the only directly good thing he did in prototype was saving new york from a nuke, and even then, i think he did it to save his own ass.
so basically, cole is trapped in a city where every enemy comes in groups of hundreds, his powers are not sufficent to combat half of these enemies and he is screwed.
mercer is trapped in a city where he is more powerful than anyone else, with mabye one or two beings powerful enough to consider facing him, he is a god amongst men.
that being said, cole could blend into the population, but then he would get nuked…
@ I dunno: Actually, outside of game mechanics, Cole would be able to kill any of Prototypes enemies with a single shot.
the helicopters… those fucking helicopters…
even at mercer speed running, you get the fuck shot out of you, cole doesnt run at those speeds so the chances of him evading them…
and yes, he could kill a hunter, a blackwatch soldier or even a tank, but in prototype all of these things come in groups, fucking large groups of anywhere between 5 and 50.
cole could wait it out as a civilian, in hiding. but if the infected arrived and he decided to defend himself from the zombie hoards, the military might mistake his powers for those of ZEUS (mercer)
He’d be able to take out the military peeps with one shot but the infected are some tough mufuckas. His best bet would be using hammers and shock grenades too off/stall them to get enough time and power going for a lightning storm.
As for mercer, yeah everybody’s fucked. His only competition was sasha (location unknown), Alden (presumably dead), kessler (deseased), and cole (running for dear life from fuck loads of zombies)
Cole can ignite the powder in guns by just touching them, so the hordes of Military companies won’t be too big a deal for Cole since a live bolt would have the same effect (this is going by story not gameplay), the tanks and such may be in numbers, but I think the most appropriate one to deal with those would be megawatt hammer and lighting storm obviously.
As for Alex, if the big bosses are no longer present, then no there is no sort of resistance to him. If they were present he’d be screwed against Kessler for certain, I don’t know the extent of Alden’s powers against humans or non-mechanical things so I can’t say. I think Alex can knock Sasha around easily enough though.
But I don’t forsee either having too much trouble with the vast amount of fodder enemies, Cole pretty easily blocks bullets and is even healed by them via polarity shield, and with the exception of Kessler and Alden I don’t think anyone in InFamous is going to be harming Alex, although those teleporting conduits and stuff might be odd given Alex’s melee style of fighting, however I don’t think the have any offensive capabilities that would get past Mercer’s armor.
Wouldn’t Kessler be be moved to the Prototype universe aswell?
Hard to say, they’re already the same person existing in the same time, I don’t see why they couldn’t stay split up
They’re not really switching universes as they are switching places so were kessler still alive, he’d still be in empire city.
I don’t know how Mercer would hold up in the inFamous game, but I think Cole would get swarmed. I’m sure he could put up a great fight, but I think the large numbers of enemies would overwhelm him and eventually take him down.
It is hard fighting 3 helicopters, 4 tanks, 2 APCs, 20 marines, and 50 infected all at the sime time without massive area of effect attacks, and whats more this is a common place circumstance in Prototype. Cole would have to be able to do this regularly; he might just have his batteries die on him during one of those fights and, well, die too.
Mercer’s powers seem much more balanced overall. He’s a better package than Cole’s (despite the result of their match between each other) Cole’s defensive capabilities are much more limited than Mercer’s and there’s no way Cole is going to be able to block all the bullets from all directions. One guy pounding him with a machine gun from an angle Cole didn’t expect would be much more devastating to him than to Mercer.
Thing is though, Cole wouldn’t go picking fights with the military like Alex. He’d probably be more inclined to help the military halt the infection like he did in his own universe.
“Thing is though, Cole wouldn’t go picking fights with the military like Alex. He’d probably be more inclined to help the military halt the infection like he did in his own universe.”
lke i said, with mercer missing from new york, the blackwatch might just mistake
cole for mercer, although the codename ZEUS would be far more fitting this time.
also, cole cant jump as high as mercer to my knowledge. jumping seemed to help a lot in prototype.
“the blackwatch might just mistake cole for mercer”
Doubtful. Cole can’t pick soldiers up over his head and rip them in half, and he would be able to to move anonymously past the vitral detectors. If anything, the Military could view Cole as a potential weapon against the virus if they saw his powers.
I wouldn’t write Cole off as useless in the Prototype world, like I said with his chain lightning attacks and ability to ignite gunpowder, as well as pretty simple method of blocking bullets (his polarity shield never breaks) the military isn’t going to be too big of an issue for him, save for the tanks in large groups maybe.
The masses of infected also aren’t too big of a problem, I can see the shockwave or any lightning attack dealing with them. The hunters are just piles of organs and muscle, so electricity would be a pain in the ass for them as well.
However, providing that Kessler and Alden are gone Alex is going to perform better in the InFamous world I think. But if the two of them were present, Alex would be royally screwed. Kessler for sure, Alden is said to have telekinesis not just control over metal. So if he really is a super-powered telekinetic, then I don’t see him having any issue with Alex since he can rip bises like nothing. And Kessler wins over Alex for obvious reasons.
Overall though, I think Alex is in less danger in InFamous than Cole is in Prototype, unless the Military isn’t after Cole in full force, but the infected won’t be causing too much issue.
during the new york incident/outbreak, no one really knew the full extent of mercers power.
its likely that blackwatch could assume that mercer had unlocked new abilities.
or they might pass cole off as another runner, or they might capture cole for research, as blackwatch really arent above that sort of thing
and if the fight with kessler is any indication of his capabilities, im pretty sure that mercer could take him, lets not forget that mercer is very fast
Even though Kessler is faster. And is already far more powerful then Cole. And it’s been established that Cole could take Alex.
All I know is that shit is going to fly no matter what.
looking at kessler in the fight, im pretty sure that if cole can take him alex can…
Considering that if Kessler killed Cole he would have ceased to exist, it’s safe to say that Kessler wasn’t intending to kill his younger self.
Now, can we get back to the subject at hand?
hold on, kessler had this mystery opponent who he ran from with his family whilst this opponent ravaged humanity, this opponent was never named and gradually grew more powerful.
couldnt this be mercer?
also, as mercer is basically a walking blacklight hive, couldnt he start an outbreak
of the blacklight virus in coles world?
Yeah, Alex could. Alex would do more damage overall in Empire City than Cole would in New York ‘unless’ Kessler or Alden were around.
This topic is kind of odd to debate, unless your asking “Who would survive longer/dobetter/cause more havoc” then the answer is Alex.
But both universes have the characters or means to kill Alex and Cole.
I don’t recall Alex ever infecting another person with his strain of the virus. The only problem that could pose is if a sample of blacklight ended up in Empire citys tar-infested water supplies.
“I don’t recall Alex ever infecting another person with his strain of the virus. The only problem that could pose is if a sample of blacklight ended up in Empire citys tar-infested water supplies.”
why not? alex lacks the morality to not do that…
Did this post break or something, it’s been stuck at 25 comments when I could’ve sworn it was in the 30s at one point
misprinted email… again
hmmm… cole probably wouldnt last too long he is best at fighting individuals or small to medium groups. but the infected are just too many and attack at any time of day.cole will eventually get too tired to fight on and he lacks the speed to get away if he got into trouble…
alex would do better simply because there isnt anyone in infamous that could put him down for good.
except maybe kessler but i havent seen him use any attacks that are fast enough or powerful enough to campare with coles..(i know they are the same person but because the attacks are so different i think that he is simply a different version)….. cole could kill the bosses quicker but the average characters would swarm him and mercer would beat them all but at a slower pace
Clearly Alex is total, complete, raging madness in Empire City. You’ve seen what he could do in New York. As for Cole, I have not really played for long in the game since I don’t own a PS3 and could only play my friends’. Damn Exclusives.
For Alex: Provided there was no Kessler Alex WOULD OWN in empire City And After That he could Get Bored and Infect someone (Alex can do that but chose not to in NY >see Web if Intrigue)
for Cole Yeah he could probobly fuck a hunter up with an electrical charge but 60+ At the same time???? So he would have to lay low and be careful to not show his powers Oh and is this before Elizabeth green is realised (cus if it is all Cole has to worry about is Military) if not yeah….not pretty as for him helping the military BLACKWATCH would experement on him Faster then you can Say BLACKLIGHT!!
so um in short Alex = ruler of world Cole = in hiding in NY and/or Escaping NY to live a relativity normal life
then Prototype wouldnt have sucked so bad… and would be 30 dollars used at gamestop instead 20
and visa versa
i kinda enjoyed the prospect of killing someone transforming into them then killing their family or dragging soemone up to the top of the empire State Building and watching them plead before throwing them of the top or pretending to be part of the military fighting the infection also the story was a bonus (Web of Intrigue i mean)
if they switched worlds it would be like this : Cole got raped by hunters, infected, marines, blackwatchs and becomes zombie. Alex pwned the Beast and absorb his powers and becomes God
What most of you are forgeting is the extent of their powers
Cole: Electric based, nothing less, nothing more (information is from friends), but his only real draw back is his lack of constant energy
Alex: Can absorb Empire City villians adding to his arsenall (Alex has next to no limits to his abilities), and the extent of Alex’s defensive abilites was never went into detail so we dont know if electricity will be effective
“Cole: Electric based, nothing less, nothing more (information is from friends), but his only real draw back is his lack of constant energy.”
untrue…cole can juice himself with his own electricity. both would pretty much dominate in each others universe.
“and the extent of Alex’s defensive abilites was never went into detail so we dont know if electricity will be effective.”
electricity affects him the same as everything else with muscle lock up.
“if they switched worlds it would be like this : Cole got raped by hunters, infected, marines, blackwatchs and becomes zombie. Alex pwned the Beast and absorb his powers and becomes God”
Eh not really.
The only forseeable harm for Cole would be a mass missile attack on him. He can blow up tanks or copters easy enough, as well as blow up (due to his aim and timing) and redirect (shockwave) missiles.
Like Dark said, self recharging is possible. And if he wipes out all said missiles and has downtime.. then yeah he could repeat the process indefinitely. But still, a HUGE number of missiles being rained on him has the highest chance out of everything im [Prototype] of doing him in.
Ground troops’ bullets will only heal Cole via polarity shield. And again, he can ignite gunpowder without radiating elctricity (just by touching it) so an actual bolt will chain off and blow up any weapons in the vicinity.
The zombies are just fodder, shockwaves and explosive shots will clear them out.
The Hunters are just giant masses of muscle and tissue. If surprise popups were possible on Cole, they could maybe overwhelm him quick enough. But given his ability to chain his attacks off of each target, and the effect lightning would have on those organic beasts, they’re not a particularly large threat to him either.
So again, just a heavy missile shower is the top and really only reliable way for Cole to get iced in Alex’s world.
Alex though, without Kessler and Alden is just like everyone says. He’ll be the top dog around there. The fanboy spouting off about absorbing the beast is pretty unlikely since the thing was said to topple cities while tracking down Kessler. But I can’t say the Beast will kill Alex since we have no idea what it’s powers are. Maybe Alex’s moves will be a fantastic counter to the Beasts, like Cole’s are to Alex. But, barring that unknown factor — without a Kessler and (MAYBE) Alden. Alex will ultimately do better in Empire City than Cole will in New York.
i think that cole would go down quite quickly depending on where he starts off, if he is in the infeted area chances are he will just catch the disease or end up becoming too tired from having to constantly look over his shoulder for some random guy trying to eat him.
if its in military controlled areas then i dont see how he could die, he is far too “human” for people to recognise as a threat, the military wont be able to detect his powers and he could hide away and only strike when he is safe.
i dont see how kessler or alden would be able to kill alex, kessler while powerful lacks the speed in movement and attacks to keep up with alex, and alden while powerful has got enough to actually kill him.
Cole’s anatomy isn’t the same levels as humans, catching the airborne disease isn’t a certainty. And he has no reason to be “looking over his shoulder” — Radar Pulse, remember? He will know any hostiles in the area. And as stated, with his self-juicing business, he won’t get tired.
Military thing I agree. I just meant in a fight the bullets and troops aren’t all that threatening especially to end-game Cole.
Alden is a bit muddy. I say it’s POSSIBLE because he does some pretty heavy stuff with telikenesis. Like controlling things from several miles away, as well as the whole tossing busses around like nothing with his mind. And building an army of golems with his mind as well, that’s a whole lot of mind powers.
HOWEVER: It wasn’t explicitly clear if his powers extended to people. It never says he can only control metal and trash, it calls him “a powerful telepath” but to my knowledge (haven’t played through the cutscenes in awhile) he doesn’t really have a feat of killing a person just with his mind. So.. if he can only control metal, I can def. see Alex outmaneuvering him and winning. If he can just compact Alex on a whim… eh it’s less likely.
Kessler though: Yes he actually does move faster than Alex. Kessler can teleport around (presumably at lightning speeds, as he was quick enough to dissapear out of sight from Cole’s bolts, and several times in a row.)
at around 0:45 seconds is a real good example. He consecutively dodges lightning via teleportation.
Alex doesn’t attack at all near that speed. Also take notice of Kessler’s arsenal, near every attack is a pillar or explosive amount of electricity. Against a predominantly melee fighter like Alex, who’s ranged isn’t anything like Cole’s. It’s going to be breezy for Kessler.
However, most debates go off of current events within the timelines (I guess the same goes for universe swaps) so Kessler is dead, and Alden is missing. But the military and all that are still present in NY.. so like I said, on those grounds Alex has no one to challenge him in the current state Empire City is in.
that’s a much better quality video, and still showcases Kessler’s teleporting and moves well enough. So use that one.
Also don’t mean to stack it up any higher. And this is still hypothetical, because Kessler still may not be around using current timeline rule. So it’s just ONE of the possible outcomes.
But the video in post #39. At 3:00 and some other parts, those electric drones/soldiers Kessler summons.
How exactly is Alex going to punch/impale electricity to death?
Even if they were able to be killed by melee attacks, how would he do it without being harmed?
Just putting it into some perspective so comments like “Alex will own EVERYONE in InFamous” are avoided. Kessler MASSIVELY outclasses Alex.
Alex can’t beat Kessler, Cole shouldn’t beat the Supreme Hunter… Kessler might let Alex live to fight the Beast (Alex Escapes) but Cole I think is doomed
Who ever said alex mercer could not beat Kessler is LYING!!! If Alex can survive a nuke I’m pretty sure he can survive an old man
Remember Alex can absorb abilities so if he were to go to empire city he could simply absorb the conduits thus making him stronger
He survived a nuke due to outside help you moron… when Kessler makes him a puddle, Kessler wins.
A single crow isn’t much outside help. More like a feature of the terrain then anything else.
It could very well have been a rat, or some kid, or any number of living things in a city.
Ahh Blunderbuss i Knew thee well………………. oh well Your not as old as Segaman64
“Kessler might let Alex live to fight the Beast (Alex Escapes) but Cole I think is doomed”
Imagine Kessler provoking Alex’s adaptation to make him custom made to stop the beast.
Could Alex have recovered with the crow or something that is NOT a part of his arsenal?
Unless a match states “there is _____ rats around a certain part of the field” or any animal/thing that Alex can recover from a broken-down form from, and you can work out a reasonable scenario where he ends up in said location. Then eh, maybe it wouldn’t be outside help.. although it would be kind of, because even then it’s not a 100% chance.
But still, even if it’s a metropolitan slum, it’s not like the entire ground is swarming with everything. And in that exact spot, it’d be considered outside help.
The only time it wouldn’t be outside help is if Alex’s opponent(s) are the one’s he absorbs, however you’d again have to work out a reliable scenario that would make that possible. Probably something involving said opponent having to capture/collect Alex and not completely try to kill him.
“Who ever said alex mercer could not beat Kessler is LYING!!! If Alex can survive a nuke I’m pretty sure he can survive an old man”
that’s a neat scenario, I’d wager the beast get put down immediately if it was Mercer with Kessler’s level of electricity. Although I know nothing of the beast, if he’s the thing in the InFamous 2 trailer, he looks like some sort of shadow monster.
Remember, Alex is NOT a human. He is a VIRUS. The Blacklight consumed him so he is now considered a virus. And, the virus is unknown whether it can be attacked by lightning or electricity that’s why it is still in the Gentek labs. And the virus is full of mass. ( he I don’t know I just seen Critical Mass and Musclemass ) Hey alex mercer can quick Airdash just jump and airdash and he goes there a second. Alex survived a nuke, YES. So here is it, the virus is NOW alex mercer because he is the first one consumed and taken its form so the virus could just go to a body and it will instantly recover
On Cole’s side everything gets beat by Lightning/Ice or fire. The Mass Helicopters would give him trouble but bullets power him up via his shield and missiles could be shot down or sent back at them.
On Mercer’s side he’ll beat everything easily except conduits. Reapers teleport and shock waves, higher level ice conduits fire ice beams, Kessler would give him trouble, and he doesn’t have anything to put The Beast down for good.
Mercer would be able to beat anything that came his way because oh his shield and he could just consume others and transform into them and sneak up on the others witch would confuse them and he kills them all.
“Mercer would be able to beat anything that came his way because oh his shield and he could just consume others and transform into them and sneak up on the others witch would confuse them and he kills them all.”
Alex has no way of killing The Beast. Kuo could likely freeze him solid and dump him in a molten steel at a steel mill.
Well Alex would have the sphere because it wouldn’t have been destoried because he would take it for himself and then he would use it, saveing his own ass, to kill The Beast and there the problem is solved you have to think of the entire picture people its just not one senorio.
“Well Alex would have the sphere because it wouldn’t have been destoried because he would take it for himself and then he would use it, saveing his own ass, to kill The Beast and there the problem is solved you have to think of the entire picture people its just not one senorio.”
-Neither Fox or Kuo would reveal info of the RFI to Alex, nor would they give it to him. I doubt that they would even try to contact him.
-The sphere needs an incredible amount of power to work.
-Alex would first have to get out of Empire city to he get anywhere near the RFI before The Beast nukes the shit out of it. Alex was barely able to survive a nuke, he gets turned to goo then the Beast could finish him from there.
okay are we asuming bth with curent powers i assume unless just their starter set but i digress.cole should do fine as the weakness to the virus is electricity and he can make enemy guns explode mercer should do fine excepty agains some conduits like the dust men. speaking of which are the bosses in each game still their when they swap universes if so mercer will get beat by the following:aldin(if PIS/CIS is off),kessler and the beast preaty easily as two can compact mercer into a little ball and the third is infamous 1 cole on steroids.
what would happen if cole got infected by the virus?
It would probably be killed off, because alex mercer being weak to electricity the virus would probably die off inside of him.
Ah now this was an okay idea. I see cole curing the black light virus with his electric healing powers and becoming the “patron saint of new york”
