Nice match up of two extremely powerful characters. While I think the match would last for a bit of time, in the end, I think Sephiroth pulls out the win.
Who do you think would win?

I give this one to Seph. He’s got most of the powers Ganon’s packing, plus quite a few tricks of his own, so he seems the logical choice here. Plus he’s incredibly awesome.
seperoth all the way
Suggested by EnigmaJ! I suggested this fight ages ago!
Oh well. Anyway I think this fight would be really close but I think in the end Sephiroth would take it, it wouldn’t be quick and it wouldn’t be easy but I think he’s just too quick and too skilled for Ganondorf to beat. I would love to see this though as these two are my favourite video game villains.
@Tim – I knew that this would happen. I’m not the most organized person when it comes to list keeping, sorry! – Asmin
@ admin
No problems mate, I’m not great at list keeping either lol.
Ganondorf easy…I am sorry but I am in no mood to bring up points at this exact moment. I’ll back up the easy win soon enough.
I also suggested this about two days ago. It only makes sense that two common characters would be suggested to be placed against each other multiple times. You might not even have been the first person to suggest it. Just saying =P …
cant gannon only be killed with specific weapons? if so he wins
Most forms of Sephiroth probably wouldn’t even be able to inflict damage on Ganondorf. There’s no bloody way Sephiroth would be able to use the Master Sword or other weapons that could have any effect on Ganondorf. Removed from that, there remains the obvious fact that Sephrioth is a mortal, albeit a very powerful one, and Ganondorf is granted powers directly from a divine being.
But yeah, this battle would go on for awhile, I think. Sephiroth will be changing into several different weird forms, with Ganondorf stomping them one by one.
This is a good match. They both keep coming back and are the most evil in their series (FF7 is it’s own series by now), but I would have to go with Gannondorf for this match.
You need specifically the Master Sword and the Light Arrows to even harm him. Too boot, with the Triforce of Power on his side, he can pretty much gather more strength and power then Sephiroth could.
Then again, I could be bias.
I’d have to go with Ganondorf. The guy is impossible to kill, and even the Master Sword, a weapon almost specifically designed for him, can’t get the job done. It takes the strongest of light-based attacks to merely stun him, let alone damage him, and darkness simply won’t work.
Add to this that his power is constantly fluctuating, depending on how much power he’s drawing from his Triforce piece. He can go from destroying islands while miles away to covering the planet in darkness. Breaking seals that the Goddesses themselves put on him, and even stealing from them, Ganondorf is not to be trifled with. Then there’s his power of possession, teleportation, mind reading, corruption, and summoning.
from what ive seen gannondorf would win just because seph doesnt have the weaponry to kill him but……seph is still very powerful
im going gannondorf just because he cant be killed in this fight
I’d say Sephiroth would be able to challenge Ganondorf, even without the Master Sword, as exceptionally strong weapons can still slow him down. Link has also used several high level swords stronger than the Master Sword throughout the games, so I wouldn’t say the rules on killing him are totally limited to the Master Sword and Light arrows.
In the end however, I do give this to Ganondorf, due to his amazing endurance, his own various forms, and the more exotic powers he used in Twilight Princess.
I’m sorry, but after playing nearly all incarnations of LoZ and FF7, and watching FF7: Advent Children, I have to give this fight to Seph. Not out of respect to his sheer badassery, but because the man fights like no other. Not to mention he’s pulled off much stronger attacks in the blink of an eye than I’ve ever seen any incarnation Ganondorf do.. And that’s without summoning a giant ass meteor.
www.youtube.com/watch?v=l6ZaSipHuO4
That’s something from FF7: Crisis Core. It’s a prequel to FF7 that shows Sephiroth’s descent into madness, and also the events that lead to FF7. But just watch that fight. Have you ever seen Ganondorf or Link fight on that level? And that was just a training battle.
Ganondorf may only be able to be harmed by the Master Sword and Light Arrows, but you CAN beat him into submission. LoZ:OoT has you able to beat him within an inch of his life, all WITHOUT the Master Sword. Same with TP. If this fight was based on who could last, then Ganondorf might win this. But powerwise, Sephiroth owns Ganondorf HARD.
This depends on what game the ganondorf is from. Gan-man would win in all of his appearences BUT his ‘OoT’ form. That form was to slow and easy to beat in the game. the ‘wind waker’ form on the other hand in extremely fast, strong, and skilled (and he has 2 swords!
) and could swiftly win the fight. other forms Im not to sure of.
so im goin’ with Ganon
“Have you ever seen Ganondorf or Link fight on that level?”
Actually, yes, in Wind Waker. The one time Ganondorf is fighting without the Triforce of Power, he was at his fastest. He was blocking every attack Link dished out, except for Toon Link’s ridiculous parrying ability. He also dual wielded some pretty long swords. That was without magic, though.
How fast is ganon?
It’s hard to determine, if you judge purely by the speed during the gameplay battles with him, hes not that fast. However, if he was that fast then he would be impossible to actually beat, so I don’t think its entirely fair to limit ganondorf’s speed to his performances in the battles against him. That said, I still think Seph is much faster than him…
“I’d say Sephiroth would be able to challenge Ganondorf, even without the Master Sword, as exceptionally strong weapons can still slow him down. Link has also used several high level swords stronger than the Master Sword throughout the games, so I wouldn’t say the rules on killing him are totally limited to the Master Sword and Light arrows.”
Not quite. While you can use the Biggoron’s Sword against Ganon in OoT, you need the Master Sword to inflict more than glancing blows; the final blow absolutely has to be the master sword.
You might think that Link didn’t use the Master Sword against Ganon in ALttP, using the Golden Sword instead, but that is not the case. The Golden Sword IS the Master Sword, only tempered by the physical/magical talents of two master smiths and THEN imbued with the raw power of a very powerful faery. It’s the same sword, just charged up with more energy.
“Ganondorf may only be able to be harmed by the Master Sword and Light Arrows, but you CAN beat him into submission. LoZ:OoT has you able to beat him within an inch of his life, all WITHOUT the Master Sword. Same with TP. If this fight was based on who could last, then Ganondorf might win this. But powerwise, Sephiroth owns Ganondorf HARD.”
Even if Sephiroth was able to “beat down” Ganondorf, it wouldn’t do him any good. Link did not “beat him within an inch of his life.” Link repeated deflected huge blasts of Ganondorf’s own power back into his face, stabbed and slashed him dozens of times, shot him full of Light Arrows several times, repeatedly struck his weak point(tail) and then allowed Zelda to zap him with an OMGHUGE blast of pure light energy drawn from the power of the Triforce itself, and all that accomplished was stunning him for a few moments so Link could unleash a half dozen blows to the Master Sword on his FACE before calling all Seven Sages to blast Ganondorf with their combined power at once. And even that failed to destroy Ganondorf; they were forced to seal him inside the Sacred Realm, which he escaped from a few generations later.
Even if Sephiroth’s attacks could even slow Ganondorf down, it wouldn’t matter how many times he beat him down(assuming he could), Ganondorf would just keep getting up, again and again. He’s survived being stabbed through the heart with a weapon of pure light driven by the power of the Sages and then bragged about it to Link. Sephiroth will eventually tire out fail, leaving him vulnerable to a finishing blow from Ganondorf, and that’s assuming Ganondorf just sits there and doesn’t just use his nigh-unlimited magic to atomize Sephiroth before he could launch any attack.
Ocarina of Time Ganondorf is getting a bad rap here he doesn’t deserve. Sure, Sephiroth has shown more impressive, flashy moves than Ganondorf, but that’s by no means victory right there. Gold is a lot prettier and flashier than steel, but if you test the strength and weight of both of them, you’ll find that steel is a much stronger material. Sure, Sephiroth might pull off some pretty awesome moves that would certainly overpower a mortal, but that will hardly matter when Ganondorf is nigh-invulnerable and can shrug off any number of sword-attacks and keep fighting.
Unless I see a real way that Sephiroth could KILL Ganondorf, as opposed to just annoy him, I don’t see there being as even a small chance of the Dark Lord losing.
It should be noted that the ONE SINGLE time Ganon was defeated without some type of super heavy heavenly enchanted holy weapon was in the Oracle games when he was brought only HALF WAY back from the dead and didn’t have the Triforce of Power. All other instances required at least one holy weapon of divine punishment also known as the “Evil’s Bane” property; although two weapons of such power are usually required just to seal him. Light Arrows, Silver Arrows, Master Sword [& its upgrades], and the Four Sword all have the Evil’s Bane property and thus are able to cause significant harm to Ganon; everything else hurts, but not nearly as much.
Going over to Sephiroth though and you have an individual that has shown to have a psuedo healing factor (he doesn’t “heal” but he doesn’t lose limbs either), is of bullet time speed (both action and reflexes), and a very powerful magic user.
That said I think Ganon might end up sending Sephiroth into the void between dimensions like he did to his own Phantom. Ganon is also closer to being a true immortal than Sephiroth is. Ganon has not only come back from being “killed” at least twice in one of the time lines, but he has also lived for well over several hundred years.
“they were forced to seal him inside the Sacred Realm, which he escaped from a few generations later.”
They really need a security camera or something in there.
This is just a few ideas, due to my lack of knowledge on both cobatants I will try to some up what I can get from the above posts.
G man (which I will call him due to it being shorter) can’t be killed by anything other than this master sword, and that didnt even fully work. In this way he is more durable than Seph no matter what if he simply can’t be killed. (which is dumb as far as I can see).
Also I can see S man (guess who) being much quicker than G man unless G man posseses some sort of thing (Im not really sure what I mean at this point) that makes him insanely fast. Also S man has an incredable amount of sword skill and the like.
Lastly I’m unsure about the whole magic situation, I know that S man has a large amount (very large infact) of materia (thats what its called is it not?) while G man has abilities which are at the very least the same as S mans.
From this I have to say G man due to the fact that he can’t be killed.
This is why I ask this question of the one we call ADMIN *COWERS IN FEAR*
Should we for the perposes of this battle make it possible for Seph to kill G man??? or else this fight will just end quickly as there can be no contest, a mortal vs a not mortal, there can only be one winner. (even though I prefere the other)
Strange, I remember posting this several months ago…
Anyway, Sephiroth takes this one. Although Ganondorf is powerful he doesn’t pack enough of a punch to take out the super S.O.L.D.I.E.R, Sin harvest, Supernova, Meteors, Materia and Masamune (this will cause a whole load of damage, seeing as Ganon doesn’t have a physical weapon)
Sephiroth wins.
“Anyway, Sephiroth takes this one. Although Ganondorf is powerful he doesn’t pack enough of a punch to take out the super S.O.L.D.I.E.R, Sin harvest, Supernova, Meteors, Materia and Masamune (this will cause a whole load of damage, seeing as Ganon doesn’t have a physical weapon)”
A S.O.L.D.I.E.R is by no means invincible. While they would be considered superhuman by mortal standards, Ganondorf is not limited to mortal abilities himself. He draws strength from the Triforce of Power, granting him powers that are not only superhuman, but semi-divine.
Unless Masamune is specifically made to destroy evil, it will only do minor damage to Ganondorf at best, like hitting him on the side with a fairly big stick. Also, Ganondorf is by no means defenseless at close range. He carries the Sword of the Sages, a weapon of light that he stole and subverted to serve his will. This weapon will prove an absolute bane to Sephiroth considering how evil he is. Also, Ganondorf pulled out TWO swords at the climax of Wind Waker and showed that he was a lot stronger and quicker than he looks.
One thing that annoys me is that people often think Ganondorf is just a common sorcerer. He’s wielding a power no mortal could have, a power granted by divine intervention. He’s much, much more powerful than any common sorcerer, and has withstood the kind of damage that would kill a normal human a hundred times over and kept fighting.

I dunno, sepphy’s music definately sounds better…
BTW, SM, perhaps some guard dogs…
Ganondorf and Ganon have both shown themselves to be invulnerable to a great many types of spells. Thus far the only type of spell that hurts him is Holy/Divine/Evil’s Bane based. I don’t think Sin Harvest and most common spells would even work on him. Super Nova is a gravity based attack and by defintion of FF7 Gravity based attacks are incapable of killing (they deal a damage amount based on a percentage of the targets remaining hp and the percentage never exceeds 75%).
As for the Masamune, well most appeances of Ganon (as in all of them except OoT) are straight up immune to normal, non-Evil’s Bane swords. Some times even then a sword of Evil’s Bane isn’t enough to even cause harm to him. Even in OoT it took two weapons of Evil’s Bane, and a very powerful magic user aided by the Triforce of Wisdom to seal Ganondorf; during that fight non-Evil’s Bane weapons cause some damage, but not enough to end the fight. The only other time Ganon was effected by non-Evil’s Bane weapons was in Oracles, but he was already Half Dead at the time, and even then they needed to charged up by Link’s inner power to cause damage to him otherwise they just bounced off. Frankly I’m not convinced the Masamune would be able to cause any damage to Ganon.
Sure Sephiroth has the speed advantage, he is a very quick teleporter after all, but Ganon has the endurance to rival Wolverine, maybe just maybe even surpass him as well as the magics to bend the world to his will. Ganon himself is a teleport to boot so Sephiroth isn’t going to be able to just move around at will; he will have too look out for sneak attacks from Ganon.
Twilight Princess showed us that even with his entire body destoryed Ganon’s spirit remains alive and can rebuild another body with little effort. Sephiroth, who pulls something similar to this, needs another body as base material to recreate himself with.
I did mention Ganon’s dimensional warping magics previously didn’t I? You don’t come back from that. Also Ganon can create multiples of himself (Phantom Ganon is this; Agihim, an avatar of Ganon that traveled beyond his dimensional prison, also does this).
Even before he gained the Triforce of Power Ganondorf was able to cast death curses on lesser dieties (many of the various spirits beings are of this status and a few of them were killed by Ganondorf in this manner), and Ganondorf with the Triforce of Power is considered among their ranks as a god. This follower of Din is not one to go down without a fight.
“cant gannon only be killed with specific weapons? if so he wins”
Only the master sword or some magical varient…but usually only the sword of evil’s bane.
@AHEM
Ah, I was unaware that the final blow to Ganondorf had to be the Master Sword. And while I new that the tempered sword in aLttP was merely an upgraded Master Sword, I assumed the golden sword was some form of completely new faery weapon.
Well my support for Ganondorf has only been strengthened…
The final blow does not have to be just the Master Sword. In both LttP and LoZ the Master Sword (only in LttP at this point in time) could NOT kill Ganon. Not even the Golden Sword, a massively upgraded version of the Master Sword, could not kill Ganon. Only the Silver Arrows could hurt him and even then he didn’t die by them until LoZ which is the third fight against a hero shooting Silver Arrows at him.
Only the Master Sword and Silver Arrows have been the weapons strong enough to kill him. The Four Sword, a lesser sword of Evil’s Bane, was not able to hurt him as much as the Master Sword nor could the Light Arrows caused by Zelda’s magic; it was all only enough to seal him again.
I was referring to the Master Sword having to be the final blow in OoT, as opposed to the Biggoron Sword, which apparantly can’t end the fight, but I get your point. I remember the silver arrows being the only weapon capable of breaking through his ‘darkness technique’.
Ganondorf can take a “finishing blow” from the Master Sword, it just can’t kill him. Or at least, it requires the Silver Arrows used in conjuction to truly kill him. In Wind Waker, Ocarina of Time, and possibly Twilight Princess, Ganondorf was defeated with a combination of the Master Sword and Light Arrows, but wasn’t truly killed.(Twilight Princess MIGHT be an exception.) Of course, the same goes for the arrows, which can’t kill Ganon on their own. He needs to be fought down and made vulnerable first, otherwise he just blocks the hit.
But yeah, without several heavily specialized and powerful weapons, Sephiroth will have a heck of a time beating Ganondorf. Seeing him try would make for quite a lengthy and epic battle before Ganondorf finally puts him down.
Oh yeah, the darkness technique. Whenever he’s in a dark area Ganon can render himself intangible to even the Golden Sword and Silver arrows. You need a light source to even hit him.
But I still don’t know about tossing things into the rift between dimensions. He only did that to Phantom Ganon, who he created himself. Never did it again. But what he has done multiple times is toss things into the Dark Word to corrupt them.
Ganon also has his crystal imprisoning technique he used in LttP on the descendants of the Sages as well as Zelda in OoT. That could cause some problems for Sephiroth.
You know I just though about how funny it is that Bratta Boy said that Ganon doesn’t have a physical weapon. In OoT Ganon had the two twin “daggers” that were both considerably larger than a grown man each. In WW Ganondorf had two swords and considerable skill with them. In TP Ganondorf weilded a sword of light; in LttP, Oracles, BS Zelda, FSA, and AST he held the Trident and in Four Sword Adventure we learned that the Trident is essentially the evil counterpart of the Master Sword; a weapon of pure evil.
In fact it is a shorter list to list the times he appeared without a weapon, which would be during OoT as Ganondorf (but not Ganon), TP as Ganon (but not Ganondorf), and LoZ. If you extend this to include Ganon’s avatars and major pawns then all appearances of Phantom Ganon weild weapons (either tridents or swords) and Agahnim was a Wizrobe so by his nature he wouldn’t use weapons but rather powerful spells; Puppet Ganon (WW) didn’t have weapons either though.
If only nobeu uematstu could have composed the battle music for Gannon… (most FF games have at least one or more of his songs on the soundtrack)
I dunno if my comment went through.. if it did then double it

OWA is arguably the best final boss music in any game, but OoT’s music against ganondorf is pretty good too.
“OWA is arguably the best final boss music in any game, but OoT’s music against ganondorf is pretty good too.”
Oh, yeah, definitely. Last battle against Ganon is particularly good.
I wonder, if these two fought, which music would play? What would a combination of OWA and the last battle against Ganon sound like? Maybe the lyrics to “One-winged angel” only sung really slowly and mournfully?
SUUUUUUUUHHHPHIROOOOOTH, SUUUUUUUHHHPHIROOOOOTH . . .
“Oh yeah, the darkness technique. Whenever he’s in a dark area Ganon can render himself intangible to even the Golden Sword and Silver arrows. You need a light source to even hit him.”
Hmm, interesting point. Does Sephiroth have a magical light source? It’s possible for Link to break through the technique using only a common lamp(or the fire rod), so any fire magic(which Sephiroth definitely has) should work, but whatever battlefiled S and G meet at might not have conveniently located braziers/torches nearby.
“Ganon also has his crystal imprisoning technique he used in LttP on the descendants of the Sages as well as Zelda in OoT. That could cause some problems for Sephiroth.”
For sure. Ganondorf was able to imprison seven magically-gifted descendents of the sages at the same time, and in OoT, the person who had the Triforce of Wisdom itself(Zelda). This would be a pretty good counter to Sephiroth’s quicker techniques: Shut down his movements entirely.
Sephiroth: Watch my speed blitz skilz!
Ganondorf: That’s enough of your tricks! *Casts crystal prison.
Sephiroth: Wtf? I can’t move!
In BS Zelda, a psuado sequel/rerelease of the first Zelda game, Ganon could preform the Darkness Technique in full light at the cost of still being able to be hit while under its effects. This allowed him to be invisiable, but not intangible, at any time. Compare against the same technique in darkness where he is invisable and intangible.
Mixed with his teleporting skill this could be a seriously deadly combination.

Factpile award to Ganondorf?
I can’t believe I missed this one… Two of the most badass video game villains pitted against eachother. badass.
One things for sure about the result of this battle; Sephiroth will make one fine minion after Being thrown into the Dark World! I agree with Scenario, Ganon for the award!
I don’t think Sephiroth would become a minion of Ganon. His will power is strong enough to overthrow Jenova’s will and allowed him to resurect with some slight aid. That is roughly on par with Ganon’s own will power, so I don’t think Ganon could force Sephiroth into minionship. Yes there is that one time when Twinrova, one of Ganon’s greatest magic users but still no where near his level, cast a mind control spell on a freaken SAGE, but the Sage wasn’t awakened yet to her nature as a Sage so she wasn’t getting the boost that being a Sage would give her.
In a best case scenario for Ganon any mind control would be temporary on Sephiroth; at worst it wouldn’t work at all. Oddly enough Ganon’s polymorph spells would also be as effective. Yes I am impling that Ganon’s polymorphing spells might affect Sephiroth despite the fact that he is shown to be immune to polymorph in FF7.
Here is why: In LttP and TP the Link in either quest ran across areas that forced a polymorph status effect on him (Dark World in LttP and Twilight Realm in TP [TR is not part of Ganon's power but it is being used here to establish a standard of power]). In both quests the Link gains an item that removes the status effect (Moon Pearl/Light Spirit’s magic). Later both Links are hit by another polymorph spell (spiralling stars in LttP and the Shadow Crystal), both of these polymorphing agents caused Link to turn into him polymorph form despite the fact that each of them had anti-polymorph tools (Moon Pearl/Light Spirit’s magic). The stars in LttP were off after a few seconds but the Shadow Crystal had a sustained effect as it was implanted into Link’s body and couldn’t be removed. It took the Master Sword, the blade evil can not touch, to remove the Shadow Crystal and even then Midna could re-insert the Shadow Crystal back into Link to force the transformation again even while he possessed the Master Sword and its ability to repel the spell’s solid form. To add to that: TP Link’s Triforce of Courage allowed him to be ONLY polymorphed rather than transformed into a wandering spirit of the Twilight; and since the Master Sword has some anti-polymorph properties then that would mean that LttP Link had the anti-polymorph property from both the Master Sword and the Moon Pearl yet he still is able to be polymorphed for brief periods of time; that is some beefy spell power!!
To reiterate that:
LttP Link held the Master Sword and the Moon Pearl yet he could still be polymorphed for brief periods of time by Ganon’s spells.
TP Link held the Triforce of Courage, the Master Sword, and even then the Shadow Crystal could still affect him if it was reintroduced to his body.
Yet still since Sephiroth is normally immune to polymorph, a very rare trait for a human in FF7, while Link is not then I would venture the guess that at BEST Link with the Moon Pearle and the Master Sword working together would be equal to but not surpassing Sephiroth’s polymorph immunity. So in a best case scenario for Ganon, Sephiroth could be polymorphed for a few seconds at a time; in a worst case scenario the polymorph would fail.
Just as a kind of bonus but useless thing in this fight, but Ganon’s magic is know to casually, CASUALLY, resurect age old, long dead, extinct beasts since even before he held the Triforce of Power. One of the first things Ganondorf did in OoT was resurect the species of the Dodongos to terrorise the Gorons (he also death cursed the lesser dieties of the Deku Tree and Jabu-Jabu but Jabu-Jabu survived it). Then after the ToP was accuired he resurected a LOT of things over the course of the series. Gohma in particular appears 7 times, but only two times can it be directly tied to Ganon’s doing.
Oddly enough during the events of LoZ 1 and AoL it is the ruling family of Hyrule that is responsible for the resurection of the bosses as they were used to serve as guardians to help prevent Ganon from collecting the Triforce of Wisdom and Courage.
I just don’t see how Sephiroth can hurt Ganon when the sword won’t do and the spells will have a minimal if any effect. Mean while Ganon is invisable, teleporting, and casting spells with the force equal to what one would expect that his diety title would allow. Ganon for the FP WIN!!
Hmm, interesting points OriginalA. Ganondorf’s polymorphing is indeed pretty extreme.
I’d also like to add something I encountered in Twilight Princess: In the palace of Twilight, there were patches of darkness, of similar nature to the crystal implanted in Link. When Link entered these clouds, he was forced to assume his wolf form, and couldn’t leave it until he got clear of the clouds. Link had the Master Sword and the Triforce of Courage at this point, but wasn’t able to repell the clouds until the Master Sword was charged up with extra juice, whereapon he could still be affected by the darkness, but could push the clouds back a little by swinging his beefed up Master Sword at them. These clouds were presumbably created by Zant, who had received much of his power from Ganondorf. It’s likely that Ganondorf himself could create an even stronger version of this power and then flood the battlefield with it, not only holding Sephiroth in a weaker form, but preventing him from shrugging off the effects while he was caught in the darkness. This might be even more devestating if it was combined with throwing Sephiroth into the dark world or the Twilight Realm before unleashing it.
I support the FP award for Ganondorf!
Yup I think this is fully deserving of the FP award. It’s been a very nice battle.
Ganondorf ftw.
Sephiroth would DESTROY Ganondorf. Masamune is a 12ft long magical Katana that can fight by itself, are we forgetting that? Sephiroth can control darkness, in fact his materia spans over; Dark, Light, Fire, Lightning, Ice and Revive. D’you think Ganondorf can survive planet-destorying meteors landing on him? Or maybe a supernova?
Here we have a l’il list of what our Jenova hybrid is capable of;
MasaMune- Longsword that resembles the MasterMune, but is silver in appearance. It also hold the spirits of Masa and Mune in the blade itself
Self-fight- the sword can be awaken by Masa and Mune and will fly around and fight for itself.
Absorbtion- whatever the sword cuts, it will drain that of its very existance.
Fusion with Sephiroth- the blade stabs Sephiroth and kills him and then brings him back to life, as Sephiroth fuses with the blade and opens up his strongest form.
Interaction- Sephiroth can talk and interact with Masa and Mune.
MasaMuna- Longsword that is really unknown to Sephiroth except the fact that it has anti-evil and anti-magic properties to it; and that its strongest attack is the Alpha MasaMuna Strike.
Blue Knight’s Whip- A long blue bull whip that can slice through most objects that it hits if the wielder wishes it.
Powers: Teleportation- Ability to teleport at random, anywhere he so wishes.
Fire Pillars- Massive fire pillars that erupt from the earth and reach to the heavens surrounding him and ingulfing anything in the range.
Sin Harvest- A massively powerful magic spell, when casted right strips nearly all the life force and all the magic energy from someone.
Power up- Powers up to his next form which includes his eyes going all white and his hair flying around, as well as 9 bright white wings appearing in his back with his one black wing as well.
Meteor 1- Very powerful attack where massive meators rain from the sky and float around Sephiroth with quick speed crushing anything they hit.
Meteor 2- The strongest one, Sephiroth uses his power to call forth the Galaxy-destroying Meator to rain to the planet and destory it. (note: has yet to have ever been forced to do this move).
Supernova- A massive explosion from Sephiroth’s hands that is of the same intensity of a supernova. He is capable of controlling the massive attack, to attack one or several opponents at once.
Fusion with MasterMune- Fuses with sword to hit his ultimate form, all wings on back go black, as a black aura appears around the body as full power takes effect
Not to mention the fact that Sephiroth is intangibly, moves at extreme speeds, and harbours extreme physical strength.
“D’you think Ganondorf can survive planet-destorying meteors landing on him? Or maybe a supernova?”
Did you read OriginalA’s earlier post? Supernova is not an actual supernova. It deals damage according to the remaining vitality of a target, and cannot inflict more than 75% of the target’s total vitality. So yes, Ganondorf could survive such an attack quite easily, and since he has been known to shake off wounds that would be fatal to any ordinary person, it wouldn’t do more than slow him down for a bit, and that’s the best case scenario for Sephiroth.
If Sephiroth is stupid enough to initiate a meteor storm that could destroy the planet, he’ll be the only one who’ll suffer for it. Ganondorf could easily withdraw into the Sacred Realm/Dark World, or the Twilight Realm, or the gap between dimensions where he banishes his failed servants, leaving Sephiroth standing on the earth to be taken out by his own attack.
“Sephiroth can control darkness, in fact his materia spans over; Dark, Light, Fire, Lightning, Ice and Revive.”
Not quite. Sephiroth’s materia arsenel consists of Fire, Ice, Lightning, Earth, Revive, and Restore. No light or darkness anywhere in that. Ganondorf has been shown to easily withstand magic, oftentimes with little or no damage to show for it. Light, the only magic that has much of a chance of doing much to Ganondorf, is not part of Sephiroth’s arsenel. Even if it was, it would only be of limited use. Ganondorf has survived the direct attempts of the beings of light known as the Sages to execute him in Twilight Princess.
“Not to mention the fact that Sephiroth is intangibly, moves at extreme speeds, and harbours extreme physical strength.”
Maybe you’re forgetting that Ganondorf can also become intangible(as well as invisible) using his darkness technique, has shown lightning agility in Wind Waker, and can boost his strength by drawing on the Triforce of Power? Sure, Sephiroth is strong, but I find it kind of hard to believe that a S.O.L.D.I.E.R could overpower someone who draws their strength directly from a divine power source. At best for Sephiroth, he and Ganondorf will be equal in strength. At worst for him, Ganondorf will overpower him.
But those abilities don’t really count for much when Sephiroth is polymorphed into a harmless form, trapped in a crystal shield that can contain the power of sages easily, and thrown into a gap between dimensions while being assaulted by nigh-unlimited black magic drawn from the Triforce of Power.
I’m going to do an abriviated deconstruction of Bratta Boy’s post:
“Masamune is a 12ft long magical Katana that can fight by itself, are we forgetting that? Sephiroth can control darkness, in fact his materia spans over; Dark, Light, Fire, Lightning, Ice and Revive. D’you think Ganondorf can survive planet-destorying meteors landing on him? Or maybe a supernova?”
Fire, Ice = No effect on Ganon.
Lightning = Likely no effect on Ganon.
Dark = Sephiroth does not have in any canon source
Light = Sephiroth does not have in any canon source
Super Nova = deals a %age of targets CURRENT HP; is incapable of killing a target / might not have any effect
Meteor =/= planet buster; Meteor can WOUND a Planet, not destory one.
“MasaMune- Longsword that resembles the MasterMune, but is silver in appearance.
Blue Knight’s Whip- A long blue bull whip that can slice through most objects that it hits if the wielder wishes it.”
Before I dismiss this as complete and utter bull shit fanfiction, WHERE IS YOUR SOURCE?!
“Powers: Teleportation- Ability to teleport at random, anywhere he so wishes. ”
Which Ganon can also do.
“Fire Pillars- Massive fire pillars that erupt from the earth and reach to the heavens surrounding him and ingulfing anything in the range. ”
In the non-canon game of Kingdom Hearts, so it is irrelivent in this debate.
“Sin Harvest- A massively powerful magic spell, when casted right strips nearly all the life force and all the magic energy from someone. ”
Is incapable of killing.
“Power up- Powers up to his next form which includes his eyes going all white and his hair flying around, as well as 9 bright white wings appearing in his back with his one black wing as well. ”
Learn to count. In exactly ZERO of his various forms does Sephiroth fit the description you gave. Additionally he still lacks a move that is capable of making a killing blow even assuming that Super Nova and Sin Harvest actually work on Ganon whom has resistance to god-level magic.
“Meteor 1- Very powerful attack where massive meators rain from the sky and float around Sephiroth with quick speed crushing anything they hit.
Meteor 2- The strongest one, Sephiroth uses his power to call forth the Galaxy-destroying Meator to rain to the planet and destory it. (note: has yet to have ever been forced to do this move). ”
Neither of which Sephiroth has since those are part of the Comet Materia rather than the Black Materia (which summons the Meteor). Additionally Meteor, the one that can wound planets, either takes several days to cast or to arrive at the casting point so by the time it arrives the fight is going to be over.
“Supernova- A massive explosion from Sephiroth’s hands that is of the same intensity of a supernova. He is capable of controlling the massive attack, to attack one or several opponents at once. ”
Scratch.
“Fusion with MasterMune- Fuses with sword to hit his ultimate form, all wings on back go black, as a black aura appears around the body as full power takes effect”
bad fanfiction tie in. Yeah this happens in NO CANON MATERIAL
“Not to mention the fact that Sephiroth is intangibly, moves at extreme speeds, and harbours extreme physical strength.”
When did he become intangible? This is about the only thing in your entire post that I’m willing to give you a small benifit of the doubt to so don’t mess it up.
Lastly, note how much of Sephiroth’s magic is Materia based. Everything except Super Nova, Sin Harvest, and those moves with Masamune which I don’t belive are canoncil. In your own words Bratta Boy taken from the Cloud & Link VS Dante & Kratos topic:
“And, once again, FF’ spell style is for gameplay effect, it isn’t real-time. ” Also “GAMEPLAY!!”
Aperently either you are INSANE because you think that Cloud cannot use Materia to cast spells but Sephiroth can for excatly the same reason, or you are bias. Also I think you are confusing Sephiroth’s Masamune with the weapon of the same name from Chrono Trigger/Cross because all that is known about Sephiroth’s blade is the fact that it is long and has 6 slots for Materia linked in pairs.
I’m not sure about Sephiroth’s intangibility, but I believe L-W gave some information about it in the Kharn vs. Sephiroth thread, so I’ll quote him here:
“As for his intangibility, it refers to his capacity to pass through barriers or other objects by decreasing the density of the cells in his body so that his physical self can pass through even semi-permeable barriers, such as wooden floors or stone walls. But as a disadvantage it renders him incredibly slow to react to physical threats or attacks.”
That wasn’t what I was asking about Sephiroth’s intangibility. I asked when did he ever do this, no how. The only times I can think of when Sephiroth passed through things is when Sephiroth was using his Astral Projection ability to allow others to see his form when he himself is not there.
Ganon also has Astral Projection, or something close to it, as he is able to randomly speak and cast powerful spells at far removed areas while he is known to reside in his castle. It isn’t quite Astral Projection as he isn’t making his body appear at a location that it isn’t, but he is obviously aware of and able to interact with places that he is not currently at over a substancial distance.
It is nice to know that Sephiroth’s intangibility doesn’t include intangibility to attacks like Ganon’s does (but only under the full effect of the Darkness Technique in low/no light areas).
Aside from that the only thing that Bratta Boy brought up that even still keeps Sephiroth in this fight is the fact that he claimed that the Masamune has anti-evil properties. Since he hasn’t defended this claim, as well as added a considerble amount of information about the MasaMune sword from the Chrono Cross game, I think it is pretty clear that Sephiroth’s blade does NOT have anti-evil properties.
So without a weapon that has that particular attribute, I kind of find it hard to believe that Ganon can be significantly hurt by Sephiroth. Sure Sephiroth could reflect some of Ganon’s magic back at him (Link can do the same with any sword, a glass bottle, or even a bug net) but that isn’t going to be able to keep him down because not once has that ever been enough to defeat Ganon.
Most if not all of Sephiroth’s magic isn’t going to do a thing. Ganon’s own magic has been shown to surpass every single magic user in Zelda U and is only contained by their seals when he is outnumbered and weakened and even then he can overcome their seals from the inside-out given enough time. Even Ganon’s polymorph magic, a type of magic which Sephiroth is normally immune to, might (I stress the fact that I am not garenteeing its success) still work against Sephiroth for a few seconds at a time.
As for their single most powerful shows of force in a single move:
Ganon blew up Hyrule Castle in Twilight Princess and then teleported to Hyrule Field (a good distance away) within moments of each other.
Sephiroth summoned a planet wounding meteor… that took at least 3 day, maybe a week, to arrive and even then it didn’t even destory a city. On the other hand it did cause the Lifestream to be infected and allowed Sephiroth the recreat himself later. Alternatively Sephiroth sliced up the Junon Cannon pretty good in that one Crisis Core cutscene.
There is one way that I can see Sephiroth winning this battle though. If Ganondorf attempts to possess Sephiroth and Sephiroth’s will overcomes Ganondorf’s possession. When the something similar happened in FF7 between Sephiroth and Jenova, Sephiroth ultimately gained control over Jenova’s body despite the fact that she was the one who attempted the take over, but that wasn’t quite the same thing as Sephiroth is made out of Jenova Cells while Ganondorf would be a completely alien agent attempting the possession.
One last thing. In the source book that clears up a lot of the mysteries about FF7 it mentions that Sephiroth survives without form in the lifestream by concentrating his hate on Cloud and thus is able to keep his self identity while technically dead long enough to create a new body for him to use. Ganondorf in TP told us that after he was weakened by the Sages and sent to the Twilight Realm he grew strong because of the Twili’s hate for the Light and that allowed him to revive himself. That would mean that so long that Sephiroth lived Ganondorf could feed off his hate to revive himself even after any “death” (although Sephiroth lacks the weapons to ackomplish even that). Meanwhile if Sephiroth dies he would have to keep his hate or else he would become nothingness and loose any chance at recreating a body for himself. So Sephiroth’s own self-awareness sustaining hate would allow Ganon to revive himself until Sephiroth became nothing. I really don’t see any way for Sephiroth to win in a physical battle and he might still loose the battle of wills.
Ganondorf cannot die by anyones hands but another triforce wielder with the master sword and/or THE silver arrows, for god sakes he has the triforce of power which gives him god strength, he is HAXED like shit, Literally the only person who can beat him is Link, im not kidding its a fact. He literally cannot TRULY die, hes the SAME frikkin ganondorf from every zelda game, HE”S BEEN ALIVE FOR A LONG FUCKIN TIME NO JOKE HE CANNOT DIE EVEN BY LINKS HANDS WHO IS LITERALLY THE ONLY ONE WHO CAN KILL HIM WELL MAYBE ZELDA CAN BECAUSE SHE CAN USE SILVER ARROWS AND HAS A TRIFORCE PIECE, OTHER THAN THAT THE FUCKING BASTARD IS HAXED LIKE SHIT, SEPH CANNOT KILL HIM, HE HAS TOO MUCH POWER DID YOU PLAY ALL THE ZELDA GAMES AND SEE HOW PERSISTENT AND POWERFUL HE IS? HE CAN MAKE GHOST’S FOR GOD SAKES AND HE CAN RESSURECT THE DEAD, EXAMPLE VOLVAGIA AND PHANTOM GANON, HE HAS A GODS POWER, HELL HE IS BASICALLY A GOD HIMSELF……………..SEPHIROTH LOSES, PERIOD
OriginalA you are so right, ganondorf does not get enough credit, he is freakin awesome and underrated and if you look at proof and given facts sephiroth truly has no chance, ganondorf is too much and too evil, ganondorf is kinda cool to me.
if im not mistaken, doesn’t ganondorf have a transformation or form so powerful, the true gods fear him?
“Ganondorf cannot die by anyones hands but another triforce wielder with the master sword and/or THE silver arrows, for god sakes he has the triforce of power which gives him god strength, he is HAXED like shit, Literally the only person who can beat him is Link, im not kidding its a fact.”
While Link is the undeniable champion chosen by the gods to put an end to Ganon, its mere speculation to assume only Link can defeat him. Let alone another bearer of the Triforce. But I suppose there is a reason why the gods continue to keep the spirit of the hero alive throughout the eons… But no, its still speculation, not a fact.
“He literally cannot TRULY die”
He can by the silver arrows, but he can be brought back as shown in TAoL and OoX. Other than that, I suppose not…
“hes the SAME frikkin ganondorf from every zelda game, HE”S BEEN ALIVE FOR A LONG FUCKIN TIME NO JOKE ”
While I believe there’s only one true spirit of Ganon, which has been around for at least a millenia as of ALttP, he has had more than one body in his existance.
“HE CAN MAKE GHOST’S FOR GOD SAKES AND HE CAN RESSURECT THE DEAD, EXAMPLE VOLVAGIA AND PHANTOM GANON”
Hmm… Phantom Ganon was actually a creation of Ganon’s, not a being brought back from the dead. Like a clone… Who can rip his face off, ride on Ganon’s dead steed, and be a bitch for elves to defeat. Somthing that should be considered is TP, when Ganon was able to summon multiple phantoms at once. This is somthing not to be trifled with…
“SEPHIROTH LOSES, PERIOD”
Oh yeah brother, thats the spirit!
“ganondorf does not get enough credit, he is freakin awesome and underrated and if you look at proof and given facts sephiroth truly has no chance, ganondorf is too much and too evil, ganondorf is kinda cool to me.”
Too true, Ganon is one of my favorite charaters of all time. Most people don’t even know who he is.
“if im not mistaken, doesn’t ganondorf have a transformation or form so powerful, the true gods fear him?”
Well, in ALttP, he praticly was a god. The god of Darkness… But I don’t know if the gods feared him. They recognised him as the world’s greatest threat, so much so that they have tried to seal him under the Great Sea, continue to reserect their chosen champion, pretty much steer clear of their own home (the Sacred Realm) because of Ganon’s evil, etc. And he continues to spit in their face. Believe me, a daimao is somthing to greatly fear, whether or not your a god.
I continue to suport Ganon for the award.
Thanks spencer, but I have to point out a few things to you. Ganon[dorf] has been killed three times throughout the series. Once in LoZ, once more in WW, and once again in TP. Ofcourse TP Ganondorf seemed to have had a back up plan because A) he said that “do not think this ends here” impling that he had a back up plan, and B) the Trident of Darkness in FSA held the spirit of the “Ancient Demon Ganon”, and up till that point in the timeline the only character to go by the name Ganon is OoT/TP Ganondorf. In sort; Ganondorf has been killed before, but he cheated the reincarnation system of Zelda Universe and possessed his own reincarnation with the spirit of his past life.
Also the resurection thing isn’t all THAT impressive. Hyrule’s ruling family also has that ability. Most of the bosses in LoZ and Z2: AoL were creatures brought back from the dead (because past Links killed them) to protect the temples. Volvagia himself is one of these creatures that were brought back by the Royal Family, but it is probably no coincedence that they held the Triforce of Power and/or Wisdom for most (but not all) of these resurctions. Then again this was also probably a feat of the Sages (thats speculations mind you) as they have shown to be linked with the royal family and have magical power near Ganon’s own. Still Ganon did all of that, and more, by himself.
Don’t get me wrong though, Sephiroth is pretty tough too. It is just when it all comes down to it Sephiroth’s Lightning Bruiser, Magic Knight just cannot cause enough damage (or even possibly any) to the Genius Bruiser, Mighty Glacier, Magic Knight with Applied Phlebotinum that is Ganon.

To Who. i meant volvagia when i said ressurect the dead, lol atleast OriginalA isnt the only one on thi site who knows all about Gannondorf SEPH loses lol
Who and OriginalA are the most sensible people i’ve talked to yet on this forum
Thanks for the praise Spencer, and welcome to FactPile!
“It is just when it all comes down to it Sephiroth’s Lightning Bruiser, Magic Knight just cannot cause enough damage (or even possibly any) to the Genius Bruiser, Mighty Glacier, Magic Knight with Applied Phlebotinum that is Ganon.”
HAHAHAHA, now we’re talking! TVtropes, FTW!
Neither Genius Bruiser nor Magic Knight had entries for Ganondorf. This has been fixed.
Well I’ll admit I’m Nintendo bias but out of bordom I study good ol’ seph and he grew on me abit actually did you know Nintendo owns most of square enix but anywho Ganondorf would win cause like everyone said above cause he has the powers of a god now it doesn’t mean it won’t be epic now the conclusion I came with about silver arrows light arrows yadda yadda is there the same thing just in newer games they change the names
now Ganondorf wins cause of his power and seph’s lack of equipment
Actually, Ganondorf is only a sorceror. He is not a demi-god or a god. Live with it.
Hmm…tough call.
I’d say Sephiroth, he’s got a much more refined bladework that can give him an edge.
In Sephy’s defense, he could just run away from that slow Old man and just summon a meteor to destroy the planet (not the in-game spells). If Seph was planning on doing this, then what escape plan did he have in mind? i assume he wasn’t going to commit suicide, so he could probably escape. While Ganondorf would not be able to escape.
Also, I wonder how much durability Ganondorf really has. While LoZ continuously references that Ganondorf can only be killed by the Master Sword/light arrows/(insert generic holy weapon here), I wonder if something like a planet being destroyed might do him in too. Since he is not omnipotent with the triforce of power, enough blunt force should kill him, despite the fact that Link would be incapable of delivering such force.
Funny, I figured out why Ganon keeps coming back for more. Link hasn’t brutally maimed and beheaded him. If he does that, its the end of the Legend of Zelda. Can Ganon survive decapitation?
Battra Boy have you even played a Zelda game, Link stabs his sword right through Ganondorf’s head in one of them! Ganon keeps coming back because his spirit is kept alive by the Triforce of Power, while that is in his possesion nothing can kill him permanently.
Ever tried removing the head completelty? Wanna know why Ganon keeps coming back? To fill Nintendo’s deep pockets. :3
“Funny, I figured out why Ganon keeps coming back for more. Link hasn’t brutally maimed and beheaded him. If he does that, its the end of the Legend of Zelda. Can Ganon survive decapitation?”
As long as the Triforce is in Ganon’s hand, he will return from the grave indefinitely, even if his physical body is completely destroyed. Cutting off his head, assuming that it is even possible for Seph to do so, wouldn’t be enough to finish him.
“Actually, Ganondorf is only a sorceror. He is not a demi-god or a god. Live with it.”
Ganondorf was originally just a sorcerer, but then something happened and he found the Triforce of Power. Know what that is? Power drawn from a god(dess). It augmented his physical abilities, greatly increased his powers, and prevents him from ever dying. He is definitely more than just a sorcerer.
“In Sephy’s defense, he could just run away from that slow Old man and just summon a meteor to destroy the planet (not the in-game spells). If Seph was planning on doing this, then what escape plan did he have in mind? i assume he wasn’t going to commit suicide, so he could probably escape. While Ganondorf would not be able to escape.”
The meteor that Sephiroth can summon wounds a planet at best, and on top of that it takes a great deal of time(several days) to summon, making it impractical at best and uselessly slow at worst. Even if Sephiroth could efficiently summon the meteor in time to hit Ganondorf, the Great King of Evil could easily withdraw back into the Dark World or the Twilight Realm, or use his trident to open a portal to escape into. Sephiroth would be the one caught on a doomed planet without an escape.
In Twilight Princess Ganondorf had his body destroyed. He reformed it a minute later. Let me state that again since you seem to have missed it way back in comment 25. Ganondorf can survive without a body. Ganon’s spirit continues without a body. Ganon’s spirit can only be harmed by holy weapons and so long as it lives his body can be reformed as many times as he likes.
Also Ganondorf is a high class demon, and not just a simple scorcerer. Even when he was “just a man” he poisoned some of the lower dieties of the Zelda series, and killed at least one of them.
Sephiroth lacks the nescecary means to inflict any harm against Ganondorf. Everything Sephiroth has is not going to hurt Ganon. At some point it might destroy his body, but his spirit will remain in perfect condition and able to reform the body at its peak power.
“Also Ganondorf is a high class demon, and not just a simple scorcerer.”
I believe he was labled a daimao once obtaining the TFoP…
Are you thinking “Daimyo” instead of “Daimao”? I’m not familiar with the term Daimao.
Ganon has been labled as a Maou (The Devil) with the Dark World as his Makai. He has been refered to as such since the first game in the Japanese translations.
Additionally in FSA Zelda said that Ganon was once a man, but is now demon, and with the new Ganon claiming the Trident of Darkness he became the ancient demon reborn.
Ganon is a demon.
Daimao simply means great demon king of darkness my friend…
… Oh.
I knew that. (blatant lie)
Ganon sure has a lot of titles to his name. Prince of Darkness, King of Darkness, Lord of Darkness, Ancient Demon, Theif King of Darkness, King of Theives, King of the Gorudo, Evil King of Darkness, Dark Lord, Dark Beast, King of Evil.
Obviously the Gorudo are Evil Theives of Darkness.
All the good villains do though. Just look at Sauron and all the other dark lords. Or Old Scratch himself for that matter.
The majority of the Gerudo are just amazonian-style thieves actually, only Ganondorf and Twinrova are evil.
Factpile award for Ganondorf yet?
I support the nomination.
I can’t help but third the motion.
I fourth it in that case.
Well, How ’bout Sin Harvest? Pretty sure that’d do some damage to ‘dorf.
“Well, How ’bout Sin Harvest?”
Da ‘Dorf IS sin, GWA HA HA!
Anyway, isn’t sin harvest only used in the Kingdom Hearts games?
I fifth the nomination.
“Well, How ’bout Sin Harvest? Pretty sure that’d do some damage to ‘dorf.”
Hardly matters when Ganondorf can recover from virtually any damage not caused by a divine-blessed/holy weapon, and return from the dead even if his body is completely destroyed.
Sin Harvest, or Descend Heartless Angel, or whatever it is called only reduces HP down to 1. It is impossible to kill with that move. And in answering Who?’s question, the move was in FF7 and Crisis Core. I’m not too sure about the name of it, but the mechanic of “reduce to 1 hp” type attack was presant in both games. This is one of the few attacks that might, just maybe, actually cause damage to Ganondorf, but only if it doesn’t fail to Ganon’s general immunity to non-holy magic spells. And as AHEM pointed out, physical damage that is done to his body doesn’t mean it is done to his soul and so long his soul remains intact he can recreate him body to its peak form.
“And in answering Who?’s question, the move was in FF7 and Crisis Core.”
Ah. Thanks. I guess some abilitys/moves go by many names as well, eh?

Awesome! Think I remember seeing that somewhere before.
Oh, and I can’t help but link to something else that pertains to the topic:

Anyway, I think everything’s been covered sufficiently. I sixth the nomination for Ganondorf!
So, erm, Ganon FTW, next sunday?
Sixth whole nominations. I think all that needs to be said in this battle has been said. Hopefully we’ll finally get a Factpile Award for Ganondorf this sunday.
Congratulations Team Ganondorf!
@John Anen
Nice video!
Excellent! Another epic match come to a satisfying conclusion . . . with some art and videos as an endgame bonus!
“@John Anen
Nice video!”
Thank you! Glad to show it. I didn’t make the video, BTW, but I thought it was an interesting take on this fight.
While Meteor might not outright destroy a planet it would still cause damage of such proportions that it would be impossible for a planet to support life making a physical body impossible for Ganon, assuming he would need a breathable atmosphere to survive. Also from playing A Link to the Past I was under the impression that events in the real world were mirrored in the Dark Realm making escape to the Dark Realm moot. That being said Sephiroth would have no reason to actually summon Meteor should he be fighting in Hyrule as from what I have seen has no Lifestream which was the whole point in summoning Meteor in the first place. So if Sephiroth were to summon Meteor while in Hyrule it would be as a last ditch effort that considering that Ganon’s death would merely be a physical one.
That being said should Sephiroth and Ganon be fighting on FFVII’s planet than Meteor might be more effective as this would allow Sephiroth to absorb the power of the Lifestream which based on the game and it’s various spinoffs could be considered devine due to the fact that it is made up of the collective soul’s of the planet’s inhabitants. This in turn could give Sephiroth the ability to harm Ganon on a spiritual level which would mean a spiritual death for Ganon.
My conclusion is that while given some special conditions (see above) Sephiroth could come out the victor in this fight. Under normal conditions however Ganon clearly has an advantage seeing that he is constantly connected to a source of devine power which not only being an emmense source of power also allows Ganon to reincarnate himself should his physical body be destroyed. So despite being a bigger fan of Sephiroth I definitely have to give this fight to Ganon due to his inability to truely die aswell as his ability to call upon a near infinite source of power.
Your arguments are interesting. However, since Sephiroth managed to turn himself into an ENTITY, then both are technically immortal.
“Also from playing A Link to the Past I was under the impression that events in the real world were mirrored in the Dark Realm making escape to the Dark Realm moot. The Twilight Realm would still be an option, assuming Sephiroth could even summon the meteor without being pwned during the extensive wind up.
“Your arguments are interesting. However, since Sephiroth managed to turn himself into an ENTITY, then both are technically immortal.”
Sephiorth can only maintain awareness when he is without a body because of his extreme hatred. Ganondorf can feed off of hatred to revive himself. So if a condition is met where both Sephiroth and Ganondorf are destroyed and reduced to spirits Ganondorf will be able to sustain himself off of Sephiroth’s hatred until Gandondorf regains his full power. Sephiroth on the other hand requires outside help to recreate his body. Once back with a body Ganon could simply banish Sephiroth’s spirit into the void without a passing thought.
Now if Sephiroth relises that Ganondorf is getting stronger because of his hatred and then Sephiroth decides to not be so hateful and thus deprive Ganondorf of his nurishment, that will effectively kill Sephiroth as he will loose his sense of self and return to the Lifestream as just another soul. Meanwhile Ganondorf persists because even without a source to make him stronger he doesn’t actually lose any of his existing power.
So even Sephiroth’s so called immortallity, which is really just a plain refusal to fully die through sheer force of will and hatred, isn’t comparable to Ganondorf’s so called immortallity, which is straight up biological immortally (look it up; it is differant than immortallity) with the addition of being rather hardy and enduring.
On top of that, Ganondorf is actually known for surviving while Sephiroth just started his long wait in enternity. Ganondorf has survived thousands of years already and Sephiroth has been dead for less than a decade. Who is to say that Sephiroth’s hate would sustain him for as long as Ganondorf can last.
@ AHEM Twilight Realm isn’t an option. The Mirrior was destroyed so there cannot be travel between the two realms. Nothion should stop Ganondorf from just reforminng his body after the attack though, since he can do that.
I know that Ganondorf already won but I found a picture that is perfect for this fight.

What do you guys think.
So…..does Sephiroth transmutating Ganondorf with Pale Horse count as a win were he be able to pull this move off?
Also, was it ever decided on what incarnation of Ganondorf was present in this match-up?
“So…..does Sephiroth transmutating Ganondorf with Pale Horse count as a win were he be able to pull this move off?”
Could you elaborate on that? I don’t know what Pale Horse does.
“ Also, was it ever decided on what incarnation of Ganondorf was present in this match-up?”
Judging from the arguments of other Ganondorf supporters, I would say OoT/TP Ganondorf (Child Timeline) . All of Ganondorf’s stated feats in this match fit into one of those two games.
@ NZ
Epic.
“Could you elaborate on that? I don’t know what Pale Horse does.”
Pale Horse causes petrification i.e turns Big G here into stone. Can he recover from that were it to happen or would that count as a win/BFR for Sephy?
Interesting question. On the one hand you have Ganondorf who is generally immune to magic attacks, and on the other hand you have Sephiroth’s magic attack that is effecting Ganondorf in a way that he has never been attacked with.
*shrug*
Does it ever wear off? Is the petrified person still aware?
“Does it ever wear off? Is the petrified person still aware?”
I’m not sure, I’d think it’s like other forms of petrification however they operate. The only example of petrification that I know of is from FF9 where one of the characters was petrified and revived by an item and he acted as if it didn’t happen so I suppose they may have an awareness over themselves there.
That’s an outside form though but it’s all I can think of for petrification effects since FFVII gives no hint towards anything but them being killed by it.
I don’t think they die in FF7 from it. I mean, their HP remains at whatever amount it was and a simple Soft item clears it right up and they are right as rain afterwards. I do know that if the whole team is either 0 Hp’d or petrified you get a game over though.
I actually have another reason for questioning it even working in the first place (aside form Ganon generally not being hurt by magic). Ganondorf, and especially TP Ganondorf, is a bit of a shapeshifter. With the Triforce of Power he can choose if his form is either humanoid or beastial. With his Twili magic, he can break his body into small two-dimensional black bits that are intangible. His very being, what he is on a metaphysical level, is green/yellow fire in the shape of his head.
I guess this just comes down to how much can you change someone’s body when that person has demonstrated to already be able to change it at will.

That I forgot about when it came to Ganondorf shapeshifting in TP in that final fight with Midna and Link when he became that head of fire. If he can shapeshift himself into those shadow particle bits, I think he maybe able to escape petrification fairly well. Hmm, would the same work in protection of Big G from polymorphing which Sephiroth can do with Break? Also, what if Ganondorf is silenced which Sephiroth can do with Supernova or Break IIRC? Would be able to save himself from being petrified without access to his magic?
As for your link….. I approve, I myself am a WT fan. = p
