Master Chief vs Xan

Master Chief vs Xan

Suggested by Janez
The first time anyone from Unreal Tournament finally makes an entrance on the site and they are matched up against one of the main residents.

I have to confess that I didn’t play UT (I know, imagine that!), so I’m not too familiar with his powers.

So, how will this match end?

I know nothing about xan so im gonna have to go with MC simply because i know what he can bring into a fight

  2. Battra Boy August 15, 2009 at 11:58 am -      #2

the UT series is pretty bad-ass, I’m sure Xan’ll be able to pull something outta the bag here.

these 2 are basicly equal to eachother but each have their pros and cons.

xan has the shieldbelt as his mains shielding.the shieldbelt can take more of a punch then MCs shielding but the shieldbelt doesnt recharge.

masterchief is very fast but xan is proberly equel in speed but he has a teleporter device making him more mobile.

most people proberly knows chiefs armory by now so i skip to xans weps.

teleporter device: allows him to shoot a small object and wherever the object lands he can teleport to that location.

his melee weapon(forgot the name): it gathers a huge amount of electrical energy and then he jacks his enemys into oblivion.it also can create a shield to fully protect him from small weapons fire

basic assualt rifle: proberly the same as chiefs but xan has a small grenade launcher under it

bio sludge: fires a biological substance at enemies which tears away shielding and armor.if it misses it will become a sticky goo on the floor and will explode if somebody steps on it.also this weapon can be charged to fire a huge dot that will explode into multiple smaller dots flying everyhwere.

shock rifle: fires a beam of powerfull electrical energy.can also fire a even more powerfull one but slower moving.also the so called shock combo is possible with this making this 1 of the more powerfull weapons.

pulse cannon: fires pulses of pure energy at machine gun speed.also it can focus the pulse energy into a beam to cut trough enemys but the distance it reaches is only 7 meters proberly.

the ripper: fires sharp disks that can cut steel.also the ripper blades can be equipped with small explosives.

minigun: basicly a mulitple barreld machine gun.fires either a rain of smaller bullets at a incredible rate to surpress enemies or it fires explosive rounds for damage.

flak cannon: basicly the shotgun of UT universe.it fires superheated flak at enemies but it spreads like a shotgun shell.the closer you are the more deathly it is.also can fire a small flak mortar.

rocket launcher: theres a huge difference between halo rocket laucnhers and UT rocket launchers.halo rocketlaunchers are anti-vehicle UT rocketlaunchers are anti personel thus the missles are weaker.xans rocket launcher is a triple barreld fast reloading missle launchers.capeble of firing 3 rockets at the same tome or firing mortars that will bounce a while and explode on contact.

sniper rifle: nuff said a gun with a huge bullet and a scope.has a huge recoil though.but it reloads instantly

electrical sniper rifle: the same as above but fires a lighting strike instead of a bullet and has a digital zoomin and higher damage.takes a while too reload.

and 2 weapons i dont want to include in his arsenall in this battle.

the redeemer: basicly a mini nuke.

and the 1 i forgot the name of: fires a HUGE electrical surge from a satalite to the ground frying all organic tissue no matter how heavily shielded or armored it is.

    personality.

chief is a calm but powerfull person he will use tactics and keep his head cool in this battle,

xan is a arrogant a$$ who doesnt see chief as a danger and proberly claims himself to be superior.

    the battlefield.

lets just say a ruined city with alot of stuff to take cover from fire.this battlefield is good for both since both have experience fighting in urban areas.

    analysis

    chief:
    keeps his head cool
has tactical equipment like bubble shield.
    his shield recharges.

    xan:
arrogant.(arrogant enough to refuse to make use of the enemys weakness and he proberly feels to good to take cover from the chief)
    has better firepower.
    has better mobility

i dont dare to say who wins this but whoever wins the winner is gonna be injured after this fight no matter what.

I think masterchief would win .

Hard to say. Gameplay wise its about even. Lorewise… As far as I can remember Xan was nigh immortal in that suit. It took Malcolm, a guy who makes even SGT Johnson look like a crying little girl, plus half his team to take the guy down. And those were some badass marines with seriously heavy firepower.

I’d give this to Xan, through no other reason than favouritism

  7. the_man_with The_Answers August 19, 2009 at 3:34 pm -      #7

I think they stand a fairly good chance against each other. I’ve played the unreal flash version found on the internet, so I’m loosly associated with some of the weapons. I’m not sure which ones Xan has, but only a few from the game are powerful. I don’t think any of the weapons Xan has though will really be enough to stop MC. They may be equal in speed, Xan having an advantage in weapons, but MC haveing an advantage in brains, I’ll have to give this one to MC. MC repeatedly takes on enemies far more powerful than himself. plus, they have regenerative shields alot of the time. I think Xan will be just alittle more powerful than a hunter pair, but nothing that he can’t handle.

  8. the_man_with The_Answers August 19, 2009 at 3:37 pm -      #8

Sorry for the double, but if half a squad of marines and a bad ass leader cann take him, I’m fairly sure a single person that has survived hundreds of ground forces, dozens of tanks/vehicles, and a couple of capital-class cruisers, is very capable of taking him on.

    Master Chief for sure.

*I don’t think any of the weapons Xan has though will really be enough to stop MC. *

ive seen bullets harming MC so xans arsenal is big enough to drop chief.ive been thinking and im going with Xan i think simply because hes more agile as MC and can carry more weapons at the same time.

  11. Kenny C. August 20, 2009 at 6:13 pm -      #11

Xan, because he sounds and looks like a total badass.

  12. AHEM August 20, 2009 at 8:31 pm -      #12

Would Xan’s weapons be considered the equal of the plasma/covenant technology that MC will probably take to this fight? If not, he might have a bit of a disadvantage, there.

  13. the_man_with The_Answers August 21, 2009 at 1:00 pm -      #13

Actually, low-medium caliber bullets only hurt Mc in the game for technical reasons. Even his Mark 4 suit could withstand live rounds from a small chain-gun. I still think that Xan is only slightly harder than taking down a hunter pair.

  14. orber August 21, 2009 at 1:10 pm -      #14

*Would Xan’s weapons be considered the equal of the plasma/covenant technology that MC will probably take to this fight? If not, he might have a bit of a disadvantage, there.*

they got a pulse cannon which fires a form of plasma or a plasma beam.wether its as strong as covenant weps i dont know.but ingame a full shotgun in my face almost kills me and sometimes from really close kills me instantly so Xan has alot of options to deal with chief.bullets harm chief we dont need plasma weaponry

  15. the_man_with The_Answers August 24, 2009 at 12:02 pm -      #15

    Again………
Read the Fall of Reach where the SPARTANs are testing out their Mark 4 suits. MC was taking live fire from a small chaingun and the rounds were even bouncing off. He also managed to dodge a few. It takes a higher end medium caliber round fired at the metal mesh part of his armour to pierce the suit. Then the Gel layer will stop that round from getting to skin. So it takes a high caliber round, not anything a assault rifle can dish out.

xan doesnt fire basic rounds he fires something with a bigger punch but still i have 1 problem ith the above.sure the BOOKS tell alot of stuff and i believe the books to be considered cannon but in a a nice game of halo a standard assault rifle can kill me and the games are considered cannon too.
sure the assualt rifle aint the most effecient weapon against a brute powerhouse like MC but it can kill him ingame and i prefer game mechanics over books when the 2 contradict eachother.

my sole reason i vote for Xan is because of superior mobility superior firepower and superior shielding.the only thing that MC got is rechargeble shields but Xan wont allow chief torevoer his fighting style is ruthless he keeps going like a beast until the enemy is dead and gives the enemy no chance to rest.
rockets kill chief very fast Xan can make it rain rockets.he can fire 5 at a time which posses a lock on device and it needs no reload.

melee combat.the problem with Xan is we dont know exactly if hes a man in a suit like rumours say or hes just a combatdroid (sorry if its already known i stopped playing UT at UT2004)

they might stand a chance and Xan never really displayed any physical attacks which is logical because with his arsenal who needs melee?getting close makes him draw the flakgun which can shred trough shields and powerfull alloys.

please note that i am comparing the 2 from a ingame perspective.both are more powerfull out of their respective games i mean hell Xan gets hits by rockets and he turns around looking at the guy like: where you trying to tickle me? and ingame a good 20 rockets and hes dead.

@admin the new layout of the site has some problems.when you type the text dissapears into the right corner where the “recent comment” section is.just noted alot of types cuze of this.

if anybody didnt understand what i said please tell me the part and i will retype it 4 you.

That’s not part of the new design – that’s the pagination of the comments causing that – if I can’t solve it tonight, I am taking it off. – Admin

I think book canon always overrules game canon.

The assualt rifles in Halo can hurt MC because no one wants to play a game where half the guns in the game can’t hurt you signifacantly, Especially online. What would e the fu of that? Master Chief can also jump around 30 ft striaght up, but thats not in the game either. What about MC’s speed? ability to lie down? Using game mechanics in a fight is useless when the character in question is obviously limited due to the need to create a fun, not to complicated, and overall playable game.

  19. orber August 27, 2009 at 6:26 am -      #19

very well the_man_with The_Answers if you wish to use the books over game mechanics fine with me.but then im afraid this wont be really a fight for Xan.

yes he whas defeated by malcoms squad but like masterchief malcom is far from being a normal human and so does his squad.i think if he have to rate malcoms power against that of chiefs the chief will be somewhat slightly stronger in whatever malcom can do.this also means for each individual squad member.even so in recent events malcom gots his spine snapped so he lost his true agility.a rematch against Xan would likely get him defeated and this counts for each squad member who whants to oppose Xan in the current timeline wherever Xan might be.

but still if we are going to use the lore Xan and MC from the books i have to go with Xan.sure MC is fast but Xan can teleport whenever he whants.sure chief has rechargeble shields but Xan has a more powerfull shield which can take alot of punishment and then lorewise his own armor can easily resist missles.

the reason im soo intrested in making this match a match based on game mechanics is because there basicly eachother equals. lorewise however i dont see MC having enough firepower to properly drop him.ye sure the spartan lazer but hey lets give Xan a redeemer and let him fire nukes on chief but i hate it when good matches turns out like this.

  20. the_man_with The_Answers August 27, 2009 at 11:20 am -      #20

The game MC could be killed by most people from other games. I thought Xan could only tele to places he could shoot the pod.

Wouldn’t firing a nuke kill them both? Sure Xan’s shields are strong, but not as powerful as to withstand a nuclear exsplosion. Lets not forget MC’s equipment. MC does have LOTUS anti-tank mines, which will sure make a big impact on the sheilds. The bubble shield, as said in the samous vs boba, jango,MC, and arby thread, can withstand huge amounts of damage that Xan can’t even put out. If Xan is as arrogant as I’ve been told, setting a well planed trap for him will be more than enough to at least drop the shields. I wonder what the EMP would do. Most likely drop the shields that don’t recharge and leave Xan very vulnerable.

  21. orber August 28, 2009 at 6:24 am -      #21

yes he can teleport by shooting the pod and xan can do that very fast.its common in online matches to quikly teleport behind a enemy and rip him apart with flak weapons.

still you are right his arrogance can be his downfall xan will always engage chief without any real though like traps or something but he got a advanced system in his suit or AI that constantly scans the area in the lore things like mines wont go undetected.

the redeemer nuke can kill both but with mini nuke i really meant mini nuke its a explosion that destroys everything within the 70 meter range with the force of a nuke but it doesnt have the reach of a nuke.Xan can outrun it and if chief notices it in time so can he.EMP doesnt effect the shields and doesnt effect Xans electronics the shock rifle and the satalite bombardment system which fires pure concentrated electrical energy with a huge emp field didnt have any effect ingame and lorewise.

the bubble shield can resist ANY firepower Xan got easily but you can walk trough it and it will make Xan use the flak cannon which is a real killer up close.

his arrogance is his weakness and if chief gets time to use it he wins…i mean malcom exploited it and won i dont see why chief couldt do it.but in general the odds are against chief.

  22. the_man_with The_Answers September 7, 2009 at 3:54 pm -      #22

In most things the odds are agianst chief.

MC is equal in physical abilities for the most part with an elite, yet he kills dozens at one time. They are arrgant as well.

If we didn’t know any better, and MC and elites were from different games, then a 1v12 would favor the elites. If they are close to te same in physical abilities, the one with th cooler and more tactical mind is almost alway the winner. When you make everything equal basicaly except for their personality, the more arrogant or less intelligent one will lose. Simply making a scenario where the MC places a mine field and adds other things to block the sensors, added with some distractions to keep Xan’s mind off of what the feild is and more along the linesof crossing it. With MC nice and hidden ready to spring, Xan stands little chance.

true but Xan in the storylines is on a whole different level then masterchief is there far from being equals.mines work in ingame Xan but storyline Xan?unless you place a entire field of anti tank mines it wont harm him.Xan suit is also unaffected by any form of EMP.the military tried to disable him with this and even the heaviest field of EMP didnt do anything.also masterchief lacks serieus firepower.bullets and light/medium forms of plasma already dont work.he only showed the first signs of any serieus damage after being hit by a AVRIL missle i believe.

still a trap like you said should be able to do the trick if chief is given prep time.sure Xan has superior sensors but he ignores the info of his HUD on a regular base.it really depends on where they fight but if chief can catch Xan in a small corridor and arms himself with a heavy duty missle he should be able to crack Xans armor and then the path is open for chiefs standard weaponry.

  24. the_man_with The_Answers September 15, 2009 at 8:52 pm -      #24

I will give Xan’s shields credit, they are damn powerful. If Xan had a cool and tactical head, he would win for sure.

  25. orber September 20, 2009 at 7:21 am -      #25

even without a cool tactical head he will win IF we follow the factpile debating rules.

    *Prep and knowledge
Combatants are given minimal knowledge and prep time. Therefore, one character can’t get kryptonite to battle Superman before a fight. Unless otherwise specified*

but where does the fight take place that is important aswell.is the fight in a tournemant arena?or is it on a battlefield on halo?or just a gladiator arena?its a huge factor but without prep time Xan is a overwhelming force.

  26. the_man_with The_Answers October 31, 2009 at 11:21 pm -      #26

Even with minimal knowledge and minimal prep time, MC could set up at least mine-feild. The with the little knowledge, his weapon chioces would probably be
    1)rocket Launcher
    2)Plasma rifle
    3)battle Rifle
4)plasma pistol(it does incredible shield draining skills)

Throw in some plasma and frag grenades, plus a bubble shield and a trip mine, and I think MC could win.

Xan’s a robot who hates humans for the way he was treated as a slave and rose to power by killing them. EMP pulses in the game cannot stop him. Much more powerful arsenal, shield, faster transport (teleporter).
