You don’t know that she can hack the matrix easily. Wheres the proof? Neo has near god like status in the matrix. And the machines would probably just delete her if she got into the matrix anyway.
Neo would easily win. he has god like powers and cortana couldnt handle that. shes a halo gram that is on a disc for god sakes.

Neo, simply because Cortana is a computer program that emulates a real person. Her moves(most likely not physical), would be based on logistics and statistics. Neo is only human, but once he fries the hard drive, Cortana is done.
Of course thinking about it, Cortana would be considered a virus in the matrix.
Going from how the overmind (sorry, gravemind) was able to hax cortana, and send her mad, and that neo was able to take on everything the matrix threw at him (and the matrix being far more powerful than cortana), then I’d say Neo for the win.
-In the Matrix- Neo uses his ‘the one’ powers to win
-Outside the Matrix- Neo unplugs Cortana, and there’s nothing she can do, because she’s just a softlight hologram.

Ok. So this really depends on the form and abilities Cortana has in the matrix. If you have watched the movies you know that all the programs in the matrix take on forms, they become people. These are AI in a sense, but are they as capable as Cortana? Possibly… I still think that, since Cortana has more mental capacity than any human, I think she can surpass Neo’s abilities. If you have read the halo books you know that she multi-tasks like crazy and all computers are her playthings.
I think She would know all the back doors in the matrix and she could send Neo to the never ending train tunnel and delete the train man.

I don’t think Cortana would have any extra powers in the Matrix, and she wouldn’t be able to spawn masterchief, or send Neo to the train station, because only IN the Matrix, she doesn’t have any control over it.
And as she’s just a computer program, she wont be able to break her own programing, so would probably have to abide by the rules of the Matrix, Neo however, has free will, and doesn’t believe in spoons.

Well.. I’ve read all the halo books, beaten all the games, watched the Matrix movies, and the ani-matrix **which was kind of retarded** and I don’t see any reason why Cortana could hack her way through the matrix and do literally anything she wanted with it.. Think about it this way, on the ring she was able to hack download, understand, apply and even advance both covenant and even more impressive Forerunner technology. I mean forerunner tech is at least 500,000 years ahead of the Matrix. So in my opinion not only could she take out Neo from inside the matrix before Neo knew what was even happening but she could delete the overlord brain thing that controls the Matrix and take it over, or better yet shut it all down.

well if cortana was in the matrix, the only thing stronger than neo was smith because he was a super strong rogue virus and he was MEANT to be that strong so neo can fulfill his duty as the one. so therefor Cortana would just be some Hot babe lady within the matrix that can only make little programs half, whatever cortana is, half Prodigy child/ Awesome.
I think it would definetly be cortana because:

1)If she can hack alien technology from the year 2553, why not twenty second/third century technology FROM EATH?(insert ghost sounds here)
2)Neo would only have an advantage in the matrix, but the matrix being a computer system, cortana could easily take his advantage away.
3)Being a super smart artificial intelligence construct, she should also be able to easily outsmart a human.

If memory serves there is a bit in one of the halo games when she gets over whelmed by the infomation from a terminal some where which puts a limit on what she can take in correct? well how the hell would she even begin to undestand a whole worlds worth of information. every atom, every sub atomic partical all arranged in a peice of comupter programming. No hacking it would be too hard as Neo can change all of this at a whim
not just that but also the argumanet that it is from the past is completly redundent the ime lines are so different we dont know how far advanced the robots were in the matrix may be it was way way ahead of the halo world. This is suported by the fact that they don’t have the ability to make a full world in a computer program….
oh and those who mentioned that if cortana entered the matrix she would have a body this is true as al programs do. All those who then go on to say and she would be stronger faster etc than neo as she is ‘smarter than him’ this is wrong. The matrix runs of the idea that to truly excel there you need to understand it is not tehre at all, which is hard when you feel a fist break your nose and hot blood trickle down your chin. THis takes a level of exerstentialist thinking which a computer program no matter how good will not have as it is not logical and computers have to run of logic, they have to its a fact if you feel you can disprove this please tell me when cortana demonstrates this. She will be constrained while neo runs wild

Neo has the Matrix, but Cortana can infiltrate it to even their odds, if not even turn it to her own advantage – and eventually defeat Neo.
And besides, Cortana has no “physical” body. And as far as I know, Neo has never managed to kill a holographic projection.
all progams that enter the matrix gets a ‘physical’ form that can be ‘killed’ ie the orical the key maker and agent smith so yes she will get a form as well
besides out of the matrix he will simply press the off switch on her and she would be done for

Alright I’m back with a vengeance..
Devil, first of all Cortana was plugged into the Forerunner rings main terminal. She was taking on far more than the knowledge of one world. She was taking on the knowledge of ancient and incredibly advanced alien race. That is spread not over just one planet, but throughout our entire galaxy and beyond as shown in Halo 3 when you reach the Arch, which isn’t even in our galaxy. Secondly she wasn’t over whelmed by any means, it was just the initial shock. She slowed the transfer rate of the data and then literally downloaded every ounce of information she could get a hold of.
My next point: “Smart AI’s” like Cortana posses a sentient level of personality, emotion, and logical thinking. They are literally made by making a digital clone of a human brain. In Cortana’s case Dr. Hasely, who was arguably the smartest person in the universe at the time of her creation. So saying that because she’s a machine she would be tricked by the illusion of reality set forth by the Matrix is ridicules.
And my last point which ties in with the one above is this. Due to the fact that she is an “Artificial Intelligence” completely negates the idea that she would be fooled by the sensation of “a fist break your nose and hot blood trickle down your chin”. If she felt anything like that she would immediately know it wasn’t real, because she is not real.
Now there’s logic for ya, huh?
cortana would try to hack into the matrix though there would be thousands of fire walls to prevent any outside hacking, ontop of that if corty would be able to enter, all neo has to do is exit the ‘Trix and close the program down.
sort of like shutting down your computer when writing an important essay that you havn’t saved yet. the paper disapears out of excistance.
and anything entered tha ‘Trix is instantly real, thus giving a opprotunity for neo to PWN corty.
also if she were to hack and enter, there would be a mega information overload thus leading to the “blue screen of death” or the “red ring of death” for corty.

They are tame or neo matrix has control over all do not understand neo matrix can be done about genital giant spike in it if she would like just a disc that a matrix metería like a virus and remember that smith matrix was a virus and was unable to neo. Neo is the best within and outside the neo matrxi is like a semi-god within the matrix and the architect of the matrix that was supposed to be more powerful matrix with neo could not now believe that a disc could fool with
Interestin’ fight here. You got Cotana: sexy super-computer girl with the ability to understand any computer system, and you got Neo: the one. Neo is able to bend the Matrix and other technology outside of the Matrix to his will, so I feel he’ll be able to pass from the Matrix and into other computer systems. Cortana would be able to read the Matrix and figure out it’s virtual physics, thus makin’ herself just as capable of breakin’ the Matrix’s rules as Neo is. This would be an excitin’ and original fight, with neither of them able to outwit or outmaneuver the other. It’s a draw.

I dont think Cortana is all that advanced as to hack the matrix its way more complex then her. she is a realistic AI. The matrix is a whole world. There is no program that complex in Halo. Plus Cortana is a program theres no way she could have a free mind strong enough to beat Neo.
Cortana doesn’t even need toe go inside ythe matrix herself. She only needs to send in one copy and have that copy do the Smith and crash the matrix like it did the Unyielding Heriophant.
Or on a more practical level…
If we’re going on the “do you think that’s air your breathing” reality principule, then Cortana still fits. As she is the one hacking the matrix, she’s already aware of just what it is… Think about this:
Neo sees the Matrix for what it is while in it (in coding). That would be how cortana sees all computer systems, so that one even playing field
on the subject of streanght and speed and such:
Cortana has no need to waste time “moving” from one area to another. She simply needs to BE there. Like the agents who can take over any body. She can take over subsystems and rewrite them to her will (like neos ability to shape the matrix), however, she can do this hundreds of times over with the multi taksing abilities she has. Giving her an advantage.
I think it would actually be a pretty even match. The only way Neo won against Smith after all, was to die (in a sense) and be taken in as a smith. However, Cortana is programed to oncieve new copunter-intrusion metionds in the span of only a few miliseconds. This him entering her, and he megates her absorbing him…
It comes down to a tie in from what I see. But I’d root for cortana, seeing as I always felt Neo was kinda of a dick… Nothing personal, I just don’t like Keanu Reeves that much ^_^
The Chosen One, Cortana has hacked Covenant systems which is far more complex than the Matrix and has absorbed the knowledge of the Forerunners. She is not a realistic AI in any sense because she is effectively a brain scan of a human copied over onto hi-tech computer software.
Also Neo is only special while IN the Matrix. Outside it he just another man who found a few cheat codes for the Matrix. Whereas Cortana would probably write those cheat codes. Plus she is also far smarter than a human.
Cortana would win. She is easily one of the smartest beings ever to exist. Her “brain” is so smart, that she will effectively die after a 7 year lifespan because her “brain” will start thinking so much, it will stop running it’s main programs (like our brain thinking so much, it will forget to tell the heart to beat).Once inside the Matrix, she would hit the delete button in her brain and Neo would just disappear. If she actually wants to fight, she will write a program to fight him, make her creations replicate and swarm him. Cortana will bascially be a human-form replicator (stargate) and control thousands of agent-type fighters, only more powerful. Neo is who he is. Cortana would change her programming to give herself the edge
