Voltron vs Great Mazinger

Voltron vs Great Mazinger
FactPile Showcase

This match takes place in Star Wars universe.

Two of the greatest mechs in Pilerverse have been ported onto the surface of the Death Star just as the Battle of Yavin begins. The Rebel Alliance has deployed its assault squadrons, but they have not yet cleared the gas giant to have the battle station in their sights.

Lion Force Voltron has been ported to the north pole of the Death Star, while Great Mazinger has been ported to the south. Both mechs have a directive to eliminate the other without interfering with the battle, but can and will defend themselves if they come under attack. The empire considers both mechs to be rebel secret weapons, but will cease fire against them as soon as the mechs begin doing battle. The rebels see the mechs as a great boon to their assault and will leave them well enough alone.

NOTE: Vader, Luke, Solo, and any other key character is protected by P.I.S. to fulfill their tasks as seen in the movie and related Star Wars publications. The mech battle will not interfere with those elements in any way, and their battle will not be interrupted by those in turn.

Will one mech come out victorious? Will either, or both, get destroyed by the Death Star’s defenses? Or will both get blown to bits with Luke’s auspicious torpedo launch?

It’s not just lots of missiles the Great Mazinger has, it also has a load of special attacks, and blades/drills that come out of him for attacks.
    Not the actual names of the attacks, more of a description;
    Physical attacks
    -rocket punch
    -drill rocket punch
-boomerang (the thing on his chest)
    -flying wing slash attack
    -knee spike kick
    -spinning leg blade kick
    “elemental” attacks
    -Whirlwind (typhoon) attack
    -chest heat attack
    -lightning attack

Great Mazinger also has two swords rather than one, and can channel his lightning attack in to the blades.

Unfortunately, I don’t know as much about Voltron, other than he reminds me of the power ranger’s robot, and if fights like it as well, then Great Mazinger will win because he has better ranged attacks and a better range of attacks.

If Voltron as one can’t win, It will just break off as the five pieces and gang up on Mazinger

WHAT THE HELL ARE THESE THINGS?

  4. Mecha bob May 26, 2008 at 8:52 pm -      #4

Surely the seperated robots of Voltorn are weaker than the unified one, otherwise, what’s the point in combining?!?

But similarly, what’s the point in the seperate versions anyway? It’s like power rangers, they call their animal-mecha, and then imidiataly combine to form the megazord. Why the hell not just have it as the megazord all the time? WHY?!?

Where the hell do they keep those things anyway? It’s not like there’s a garage for giant robots. I mean what the hell?

Megas XLR comes in and kills em’ both.

I vote Voltron, Great Mazinger can prolly win, much more if it is Grendizer, or better yet, Mazinkaiser, but strictly speaking, I vote Megas to explode when Coop tries to intervene in the fight, lol

Great Mazinger is made out of Super Alloy Z, a fictional metal that for the most part, is the strongest metal ever known. It only needs one pilot while Voltron needs 5, and while as a super robot and not having too much long ranged weapons, still has more range then that of Voltron (or Garlion. what ever you prefer). If we do this the easy way and use Super Robot Wars stat system for the robots, Voltron, for a super robot, has paper thin armor, and doesn’t take much to take down. Great on the other hand is made of much tougher stuff and can take a bigger beating. Both are supers so its understood that both are slower then your usual real type, they won’t really be going anywhere too fast. Voltron dividing itself back to 5 lions is a terrible idea. It only takes one being shot down for them to lose then, and considering that Voltron himself has such a bad armor count for a super, the separate lions would have even less.

Statistically, Great Mazinger takes the victory.

well its hard to really compare them, voltron can go into space, great mazinger can’t

great mazinger got a lot of weapons that are for long distance attack but not voltron

voltron was a single robot but was made into 5 by magic a long time ago, each of them hide in they’re own element that are fire, water, grass (i think) earth and the main one is the black lion who i don’t remember where he hide.

great mazinger got 2 sword and can do great damage, he can trow his sword into his enemy and kick it deeper or use the lightning attack and use the sword to send the lightning attack into his enemy of just overload voltron system with it.

voltron have a few missile and flame thrower but he’s not build for distance combat.

voltron is from the future and his armor can be stronger that great mazinger

so great mazinger have a great chance to defeat voltron by aiming at each lion and forcing them to separate from the black lion.

if it was mazinkaizer well voltron would have no chance against him, he can use his wing as a boomerang and his chest weapon can melt voltron or cause a lot of damage to him.

I grew up watching both mazinger and voltron cartoons.
In retrospect, the voltron fights were kinda lame. He would always be losing, until he makes his blazing sword and slices the robeast in half. Mazinger on the other hand, had more variety in his attacks. Also, NOTHING beats the original.
    Mazinger all the way!

Voltron for the win, they have some pretty badass abilities especially with the new series.

  12. AkumaTh October 17, 2012 at 8:41 am -      #12

Is this current Voltron or Classic Voltron? Because if it is current, here is a repost of his abilities.

Besides the sword we’ve all known, when he shifts Center Lions, he gets access to new weaponry.
    -
    Red Center – Dual Pistols
    Yellow Center – Swinging Mace
    Blue Center – Trident.
Green Center – Shield (which can still use the sword)
    -
Not only that, when connected to the Cadets (who have been moved up to the new Riders), they get access to special abilities.
Daniel – Increase in Speed. (NOTE: Last appearance he was back to being a cadet and also evil)
    Vince – Increase in Strength
Larmina – Improve Hand to Hand ability.

  13. GuardianAngel1911 October 17, 2012 at 9:29 am -      #13

what abilities does Mazinger have anyway?

  14. itisburgers October 17, 2012 at 11:15 am -      #14

    Off-topic
    - Does anyone know where the original terrawatt calc for Samus is? i am having trouble locating it, it’s not in MC vs Samus, or Samus vs Iron man.

  15. Sauroposeidon October 17, 2012 at 11:47 am -      #15

I think Mazinger has it. Golion / Voltron will put up a great fight but in the end they’re likely to be forced back in to their component lions and driven off.

  16. AkumaTh October 17, 2012 at 11:50 am -      #16

@Sauroposeidon: Wouldn’t that be beneficial for Voltron. After all, five smaller targets are harder to hit than one big one.

  17. Sauroposeidon October 17, 2012 at 12:04 pm -      #17

I think a good place to start would be Samus vs Space Marine. Interestingly enough, it’s a great read to see how the site used to have the same mentality about Warhammer 40k that it had about Master Chief previously. Where people just spout nonsense and assume WH40k wins no matter what because, you know, it’s 40k.

  18. Sauroposeidon October 17, 2012 at 12:07 pm -      #18

No. The lions don’t have the same speed, fire power, or durability as Golion / Voltron. I used to actually know Voltrons stats, but I don’t remember the exact numbers anymore. They’re much higher than what the lions can actually do, though.

  19. AkumaTh October 17, 2012 at 12:23 pm -      #19

@Sauroposeidon: That depends on which version we use. The Current Version had their stats increase especially with the cadets aid.

  20. Sauroposeidon October 17, 2012 at 12:31 pm -      #20

Oh wait, I was wrong. It was Samus vs Boba Fett, burger. It’s on the second page, on a post done by Skrunks to break the tie and turn it in to a roflstomp in favor of Samus.
    -
Akuma, Current series Voltron (does that garbage seriously still air?) is waaaay after this match was made. I see absolutely no reason to use it for this match. A new match using the new Voltron, sure, but the old voltron is definitely being used in this one.

  21. itisburgers October 17, 2012 at 5:24 pm -      #21

@sauro you sir are a saint.

  22. AkumaTh October 17, 2012 at 5:38 pm -      #22

@Sauroposeidon: The new one isn’t all that bad. Its pretty good with a ton of references to the original series as well. Certainly better then their 3D series.
    -
Too boot, while this is an old match, it has been updated has it not? Batman/Daredevil was updated with a new match and new settings. And I presume the rest of these Showcases had the same treatment.

  23. GuardianAngel1911 October 17, 2012 at 6:09 pm -      #23

even if it doesn’t get new version with updates the current incarnation rule is still in effect. As we decided on Justice League vs Avengers old matches when brought back usually get the latest versions so it’s easier to actually debate the match.
the 3D voltron is non canon I think(hope) but the newest series that was on Nick is a decent show (better than a lot of trash on those networks nowadays) But still we should go with the current version of Voltron.

  24. Sauroposeidon October 17, 2012 at 7:06 pm -      #24

I did not agree on jack shit, GA. I see no reason to use the new version unless specified. I believe it would be best to use voltron defender of the universe and not voltron force. This match was made with that version of voltron in mind. No one used the 3D voltron before even though it was technically more recent. No reason to suddenly switch now. It is obviosuly original golion to me and you’ll be harf pressed to convince me otherwise until admin says otherwise. Now if he does say otherwise i’d be glad to go along with it… but I strongly feel that if we want to use the voltron force version then we should have an entirely new match made after a new showcase is selected next week. That sounds more reasonable, doesn’t it? And it gives us a chance to go over both voltrons with their own separate matches.

  25. AkumaTh October 17, 2012 at 10:26 pm -      #25

This match was made with that version of voltron in mind.
    -
This match was made in 2008. The cartoon was released in 2011. That Voltron was on the mind because it was the only Voltron at the time.
    -
And Voltron Force does seem to follow the canon of the original Voltron. Including bringing back the original Blue Lion Pilot, Sven.

  26. Sauroposeidon October 17, 2012 at 11:04 pm -      #26

I am pretty certain that Sven is dead in the uncensored version..

  27. jhud October 18, 2012 at 8:23 am -      #27

    never liked voltron anyway

  28. Matapiojo October 18, 2012 at 1:29 pm -      #28

“Too boot, while this is an old match, it has been updated has it not? Batman/Daredevil was updated with a new match and new settings. And I presume the rest of these Showcases had the same treatment.”
    .
All showcased matches get an updated scenario. You can see the old scenario here.
    .
I for one am not too keen on the versions. Like it has been observed, the match was created when there were two Voltrons to consider (Lion and Vehicle forces). This match only made clear that it was for the Lion one at the time. Since it now appears that there are two Lion Force Voltrons, I would say that Current Incarnation rule applies unless Voltron is being disadvantaged this way. If it is proven that Voltron is indeed disadvantaged in the current incarantion, revert to using the original Lion Force Voltron.
    .
    Hope that helps.

    .”
    -
Ok, Voltron Force style Voltron then. Which I can’t debate about at all because I refuse to watch that dreck.. so.. I’m out. =/

  32. AkumaTh October 18, 2012 at 11:26 pm -      #32

I am pretty certain that Sven is dead in the uncensored version..
    -
He died in the original Japanese Version. The American dub changed it, thus making the opening for his return in VF.
    -
And no Matapiojo, it doesn’t lessen Voltron. It actually increase its capabilities adding more weapons and a Lion Center ability.

  33. seradon October 19, 2012 at 7:33 pm -      #33

Is this tv Great Mazinger or the Great from the Mazinkaiser OVA? Either way Great (and the Mazinger family as a whole) has a history of absorbing phenomenal levels of punishment. Voltron will have a hard time thanks to Greats Thunder Break and Breast Burn attacks.

  34. Murder October 23, 2012 at 10:38 pm -      #34

Voltron summons Zord and friends to end this quickly.
