    Master Chief vs Spawn

    Another reader request, this pits the Chief against Spawn, a personal favorite of yours truly. While I’d like to think that Master Chief has a chance, I’m not sure even with all his powers he could win the day.

    Master Chief

    * Various weapon skills
    * Regenerating Shields
    * Multiple Vehicle selection
    * Lone Wolf Mentality
    * Super Cool Armor

    Spawn

    * Body composed of necroplasm
    * Magically regenerates his wounds
    * Can morph into anything he can imagine
    * Retains knowledge and experiences of 6,000 souls within him
    * Practically immortal unless beheaded by a weapon of heaven

    So, who emerges from this fight?

    Star Wars X-Wing Fighter vs Boba Fett's Slave I

    Blurring the lines of what qualifies as “Mecha” – Here are two foes from the same universe – and to make it more interesting, let’s have Boba piloting his and Luke + R2D2 in the seat for the X-Wing.

    X-Wing Fighter

    • Laser cannons
    • Proton torpedoes
    • Deflector shields
    • Hyperdrive

    Slave I

    • Turret-mounted tractor-beam projector
    • Sensor masking and tracking system
    • Reinforced armor plating
    • Proton torpedo launchers
    • Ion cannon

    So who’s the victor here?

    Connor MacLeod vs William Wallace

    Battle of the Highlanders – and “There can Be only One” – As much as I love the Braveheart version of William Wallace, I think he’d have one heck of a time trying to land a decapitating blow in order to win this fight – but stranger things have happened.

    Is there any way the time-traveling MacLeod loses this fight?

    Master Chief vs Link

    This is a battle for the ages. MC has proven himself against many foes, but Link is one of the most resourceful hero characters to exist. Where Link lacks in strength, he makes up for in smarts – the same things in which the Chief does well also.

    Master Chief

    • Various weapon skills
    • Regenerating Shields
    • Multiple Vehicle selection
    • Lone Wolf Mentality
    • Super Cool Armor

    Link

    • Physically powerful
    • Nimble
    • Ability to use Magic
    • Skilled at using many weapons
    • Bearer of the Master Sword

    So, which hero wins this this duel?

    Zorro vs Jack Sparrow

    Interesting match up here. Two show-offs, one in victory and the other as he stumbles his way through all precarious situations. While on the surface Zorro may look to have the advantage, Captain Jack has survived many sticky moments to live another day.

    So, who’s going to be left standing at the end of this round?

    Voltron vs Great Mazinger

    For the sake of this discussion, the only Voltron being considered is the Lion Force Voltron.

    Voltron has a formidable opponent in Great Mazinger (Mazinga), a Shogun Warrior that was cool because the ship that acted as his brain could remove itself and work separately from the mecha’s body.

    Voltron

    • “Defender of the Universe”
    • Gargantuan Sword
    • Can fight as separate lions; not as powerful

    Great Mazinger (Mazinga)

    • Missiles…lots of them
    • Detachable Pilot ship
    • Ample sword

    As much as I would want Mazinga to win, I think Voltron slices him up in a bout 2 seconds – but is there anyone out there who thinks the Shogun Warrior can win out?

    Bonus: Fantastic Voltron site – check it out

    Master Chief vs Big Daddy

    This match up provides an interesting turn of events for the Chief. While it may seem that the Big Daddies are slow and therefore easy to assault, they have a sense of purpose (protect the Little Sisters) – and that one objective focus might be enough to send MC to a quick re-spawn.

    Master Chief

    • Various weapon skills
    • Regenerating Shields
    • Multiple Vehicle selection
    • Lone Wolf Mentality
    • Super Cool Armor

    Big Daddy

    • Massive rivet gun(s)
    • Proximity mines
    • Telekinesis
    • Cutting tools
    • Grafted skin and organs for maneuvrability

    How does this fight end?

    Master Chief vs Sephiroth

    Ok, I’ll admit that I don’t know too much about Sephiroth. I never got into Final Fantasy even though I know it’s a huge, epic game and I know lots of people who enjoy it. From what I read, he’s a real badass – so let’s see who’s got what it takes to win:

    Master Chief

    • Various weapon skills
    • Regenerating Shields
    • Multiple Vehicle selection
    • Lone Wolf Mentality
    • Super Cool Armor

    Sephiroth

    • Giant sword only he can use
    • Very powerful Materia (Magic)
    • Ruthless
    • Super Nova attack
    • Considered the elite of SOLDIER

    Looks like the Chief may have met his match here…

    Inigo Montoya vs Maximus

    In perhaps what could only be viewed as some of the most well known lines ever spoken by a swordfighter, I’m not sure anything is more famous than Montoya’s “Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die.”

    While “The Spainard” had his own catch phrase “What we do in life echoes in eternity” – and he was battling to restore his name and the glory of Rome, I think the tactical edge goes to Maximus…
